1 Russian lenders Gazprombank and Alfa Bank have sought approval
to start operations in India. Alfa Bank is Russia's largest privately owned
lender. Gazprombank, partly owned by energy giant Gazprom, primarily handled
payments for Moscow's energy exports. Both banks have sought licenses from
India's central bank to open branches in the country.

2 Life Insurance
Corporation of India (LIC) has entered into a strategic bancassurance
partnership with Yes Bank. This collaboration will enable Yes Bank customers to
access LIC's life insurance products through LIC's branch network and digital
platforms. Yes Bank customers will have access to LIC's range of term plans,
endowment policies, pension products, and unit-linked plans.

3 The Bihar Police on
Friday decided to create "Abhaya Brigades" in every district of the
state to protect women and girls from crime. Each police station will have a
team consisting of a female police officer and three other personnel (one
female and two male) who will patrol areas near schools, colleges, and coaching
centers. The teams will identify hotspots, prevent harassment, and take action
against offenders.

4 India will
host the 20th session of the Inter-Governmental Committee for Safeguarding
Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) from December 8-13, 2025, at the Red Fort in
New Delhi. India has officially nominated Diwali for inclusion on the UNESCO
Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Intangible cultural heritage refers to
living traditions, practices, expressions, knowledge, and skills that cannot be
tangibly preserved.

5. Russia's
largest lender, Sberbank, said on Thursday it plans to gradually expand its
business in India and will invest about USD 100 million over the next three
years to take advantage of the growing Indian market. The bank, which started
its operations in 2010, has sought a licence from the RBI to open 10 branches
in 10 cities.

6. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol unveil DDLJ bronze statue at Leicester
Square, an addition to the 'Scenes in the Square' film series. To mark 30 years
of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol unveiled a bronze
statue of Raj-Simran at Leicester Square in London. This is a big deal for Bollywood
as it is the first time an Indian film has been honoured with a statue at
Leicester Square.

8. The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently took two major liquidity measures,
including an open market operation (OMO) purchase of ₹1 trillion and a
dollar-rupee swap worth $5 billion. This move comes at a time when the rupee
has crossed 90 per US dollar. Open market operations are a key monetary tool of
the RBI, used to regulate liquidity in the banking system.

Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the second edition of the EARTH Summit 2025 at
Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar on Friday. He launched over 13 new services and
products under the "Sahakar Sarathi" initiative. The summit is being
jointly organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development
(NABARD) and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). It aims to
empower rural innovation and create action-oriented solutions for rural
development.

10 Armed Forces Flag Day
or Jhanda Diwas is celebrated every year on 7 December, with the main objective
of expressing gratitude to the soldiers of the Indian Army and raising funds
for the Army, which was needed for the welfare of the personnel and the Army
after independence. For this reason, it is celebrated every year on 7 December
in India since 1949.
सशस्त्र सेना झंडा दिवस या झंडा दिवस प्रत्येक वर्ष ७ दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है, जिसका मुख्य उद्देश्य भारतीय सेना के जवानों का आभार प्रकट करते हुए सेना के लिए धनराशि एकत्र करना है, जिसकी जरूरत आजादी के बाद ही भारतीय सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मियों और सेना के कल्याण हेतु लगी। इसी कारण यह 1949 से 7 दिसम्बर को भारत में प्रतिवर्ष मनाया जाता है।
