1. The recently launched 'Lock FD' feature allows Axis Bank
customers to protect their fixed deposits (FDs) from premature closure through
digital channels. Once activated, the option to close the fixed deposit through
mobile banking or internet banking gets deactivated. The only way to close a
locked FD is by visiting an Axis Bank branch in person.

the first time in India, advanced cloud seeding technology using drones and
artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to induce artificial rainfall. The
pilot project is being carried out at the Ramgarh Dam area in Jaipur,
Rajasthan, with the aim of reviving the 129-year-old reservoir, which has been
dry for the last two decades and has not been filled to full capacity since
1981. The initiative is a joint effort of Indo-US based technology company GenX
AI and the Rajasthan government.

3. India's retail inflation eased to an eight-year low of 1.55% in
July 2025, led by a significant drop in food prices, according to the latest
government data. This is the first time in the last six years that inflation
has fallen below the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) tolerance band of 2% to 6%.
The last time inflation eased was in June 2017. Fuel and light prices rose from
2.55% in June to 2.67% in July. Core inflation (excluding food and fuel)
remained stable at 4%, reflecting stable underlying price pressures.

4. Launched
in July 2023, NSCAEM aims to prevent the spread of SCD and improve the quality
of life of millions of people affected by the disease. The initiative focuses
on screening, counselling and comprehensive care, especially in tribal and
high-prevalence areas. Sickle cell anaemia is a genetic blood disorder in which
red blood cells are sickle-shaped instead of the normal, round shape. These
cells are stiff and sticky, which can cause them to get stuck in blood vessels
and obstruct blood flow, causing pain, infection and organ damage.
जुलाई 2023 में शुरू की गई NSCAEM का उद्देश्य SCD के प्रसार को

5. The Union Public Service
Commission (UPSC) will celebrate its 100th year of existence with a year-long
series of programs and initiatives, starting from October 1, 2025 and
concluding on October 1, 2026. This decision was taken in a recent meeting of
the Commission chaired by UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar. It is noteworthy that the
Public Service Commission was established in India on 1 October 1926 following
the provisions of the Government of India Act of 1919 and the recommendations
of the Lee Commission (1924).

6. Approved an investment proposal of Rs
8,146.21 crore for construction of 700 MW Tato-II Hydroelectric Project (HEP)
in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project is expected to be completed
in 72 months. The project will be implemented through a joint venture between
North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and the Government of
Arunachal Pradesh. The Tato-II Hydroelectric Project will be built on the Siyom
River.
अरुणाचल प्रदेश के सियांग ज़िले में 700 मेगावाट की तातो-II जलविद्युत परियोजना (एचईपी) के निर्माण के लिए 8,146.21 करोड़ रुपये के निवेश प्रस्ताव को मंज़ूरी दे दी। इस
परियोजना के 72 महीनों में पूरा होने की उम्मीद है। यह परियोजना नॉर्थ ईस्टर्न
इलेक्ट्रिक पावर कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (नीपको) और अरुणाचल प्रदेश सरकार के बीच एक

7. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled social media
monitoring and cyber intelligence tool 'Garuda Drishti'. Objective: To curb
communal hatred, hate speech, fake news, threats, drug trafficking and
financial fraud on social media. Garuda Drishti enables detection and
monitoring of criminal activities on social media. Future plans: To expand the
scope and capability of this system.

8. International Youth Day is celebrated every year on 12 August.
It was established by the United Nations in 1999. It was first celebrated in
the year 2000. It aims to recognize and empower the voice of youth on global
issues. Theme for 2025: Local youth action for sustainable development goals
and beyond.

performance at the Asian Under-19 and Under-22 Boxing Championships 2025, where
Ritika won the gold medal in the women's 80-plus kg category. India dominated
the prestigious tournament held in Bangkok, winning a total of 27 medals across
both age groups. (Under-19 - 14, Under-22 - 13). India Under-19: Finished 2nd

10. The World Athletics Bronze-Level Continental Tour 2025 was
held at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. India is hosting this global
athletics meet for the first time. A total of 160 athletes from 17 countries
participated in it. Aim: The top performers will qualify for the 2025 World
Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
