1. DAMPENER (NOUN)



Meaning: Something that lessens the force, effect, or intensity of something else; a device or substance used to reduce the impact or vibrancy of sound, motion, or enthusiasm.



Synonyms: Diminisher , Attenuator , Moderation



Antonyms: Stimulator , Catalyst , Augmenter



Sentence: The rain served as a dampener on the outdoor event, but the attendees still enjoyed themselves despite the weather.



2. CONTEND (VERB)



Meaning: To assert, maintain, or argue a point; to engage in a struggle or competition.
