1. India improves its ranking on global corruption index in 2018: Study
India has improved its ranking on a global corruption index in 2018, while its neighbour China lagged far behind, according to the annual index released by an anti-graft watchdog.
India rose by three points to 78 in the list of 180 countries in the world, while China ranked 87 and Pakistan 117 in 2018, the Transparency International said in its Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2018.

वैश्विक भ्रष्टाचार सूचकांक, 2018 में भारत की रैंकिंग में सुधार हुआ है। एक भ्रष्टाचार-निरोधक संगठन द्वारा जारी वार्षिक सूचकांक के मुताबिक इस सूची में चीन काफी पीछे छूट गया है।
ट्रांसपरेंसी इंटरनेशनल ने 2018 के अपने भ्रष्टाचार सूचकांक में कहा है कि दुनियाभर के 180 देशों की सूची में भारत तीन स्थान के सुधार के साथ 78वें पायदान पर पहुंच गया है। वहीं इस सूचकांक में चीन 87वें और पाकिस्तान 117वें स्थान पर हैं।
2. Piyush Goyal to receive Carnot prize for power reforms, rural electrification
Union Finance Minister Piyush Goyal will receive the Carnot prize for his contribution towards sustainable energy solutions, with a team from University of Pennsylvania coming here to felicitate him on January 30.
The former power minister, who was to be awarded the prize by the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design in October last year, had to skip the event because of the Amritsar tragedy in which over 60 people died after being mowed down by a train.
पीयूष गोयल को बिजली सुधार, ग्रामीण विद्युतीकरण के लिए कारनॉट पुरस्कार
केंद्रीय वित्त, रेल और कोयला मंत्री पीयूष गोयल को सतत बिजली समाधान की दिशा में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए कारनॉट पुरस्कार दिया जाएगा। 30 जनवरी को पेनसिलवेनिया विश्वविद्यालय की एक टीम उन्हें यह पुरस्कार देगी।
पूर्व बिजली मंत्री गोयल को पिछले साल अक्टूबर में पेनसिलवेनिया विश्वविद्यालय के स्कूल ऑफ डिजाइन में ‘क्लाइनमैन सेंटर फॉर एनर्जी पॉलिसी’ की ओर से यह पुरस्कार दिया जाना था।
3. Punjab Government okays 'Smart Village Campaign' worth Rs 385 crore
The Punjab government approved a rural development scheme worth Rs 384.40 crore to supplement the ongoing works to build village infrastructure and provide essential amenities.
Named 'Smart Village Campaign', the scheme would be financed with funds from the 14th Financial Commission and MGNREGA works, an official spokesperson said.
पंजाब सरकार ने ‘स्मार्ट विलेज कैंपेन’ योजना को मंजूरी दी
पंजाब सरकार ने 384.40 करोड़ रुपये के ग्रामीण विकास योजना को मंजूरी दी ताकि चल रहे ग्रामीण आधारभूत संरचना को समर्थन मिल सके और आवश्यक सुविधाएं मुहैया कराई जा सकें।
एक आधिकारिक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि ‘स्मार्ट विलेज कैंपेन’ (एसवीसी) नाम की इस योजना का वित्त पोषण 14वें वित्त आयोग और मनरेगा के कार्यों से किया जाएगा।
4. MoSPI, NCAER ink pact to improve statistical system in India
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) said it has signed a pact with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to improve the official statistical system in the country.
सांख्यिकी प्रणाली में सुधार के लिए एनसीएईआर के साथ समझौता
देश की आधिकारिक सांख्यिकी प्रणाली में सुधार के लिए सांख्यिकी एवं कार्यक्रम कार्यान्वयन मंत्रालय ने राष्ट्रीय प्रायोगिक आर्थिक अनुसंधान परिषद (एनसीएईआर) के साथ करार किया है। सांख्यिकी मंत्रालय ने यह जानकारी दी।
5. Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey named UPSC member
Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey has been named as the member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) that conducts prestigious civil services examination to select the country's bureaucrats, diplomats and police officers, officials said.
Choubey, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre, is due to superannuate after completing 60 years of age.

नागरिक विमानन सचिव राजीव नयन चौबे को संघ लोक सेवा आयोग (यूपीएससी) का सदस्य नियुक्त किया गया है।
