1 Five products from Tamil Nadu have been awarded the Geographical
Indication (GI) tag. The newly recognized items include Woraiyur cotton saree,
Kavindapadi Nattu Sakkarai, Namakkal soapstone cookware, Thooyamalli rice, and
Ambasamudram Choppu Saman. With these additions, Tamil Nadu now has 74
GI-tagged products. In India, the tag is issued under the Geographical
Indications (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. The first GI tag in India
was awarded to Darjeeling tea in 2004. The Geographical Indications Registry is
located in Chennai and is administered by the Controller General of Patents,
Designs and Trademarks.

2 Dr. Tessy Thomas, known
as the "Missile Woman of India," has been awarded the 8th Dr. Paulos
Mar Gregorios Award 2025. She is a leading scientist at DRDO and the first
woman in India to lead a missile project, earning the title of
"Agniputri." The award includes a cash prize of ₹5 lakh. The Dr.
Paulos Mar Gregorios Award is a prestigious biennial international award
instituted by the Sophia Society under the auspices of the Delhi Diocese of the
Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

3 The Government of India
has appointed Vivek Chaturvedi, a 1990-batch IRS (Customs and Indirect Taxes)
officer, as the new Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs
(CBIC). He will replace Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, a 1988-batch IRS officer, who
retired on November 28, 2025, after completing his term as CBIC Chairman.
Chaturvedi has over 30 years of experience in indirect tax administration.

Dictionaries has chosen "rage bait" as the word of the year for 2025,
highlighting the growing influence of digital culture and online behavior. Rage
bait refers to online content that is deliberately designed to incite anger or
outrage, to increase traffic, engagement, and algorithmic visibility. Other
shortlisted contenders were "bio hack" and "aura farming."

6. Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has become India's first
water-positive airport. This means the airport has conserved, reused, and
recharged groundwater levels more than its total water consumption. This
achievement reflects IGIA's commitment to environmental sustainability and
responsible use of resources. Airport operating agency DIAL was formally
honored for this achievement at the recent Water Innovation Summit 2025.

Agarwal. AU Small Finance Bank is a Jaipur-based Indian scheduled commercial
small finance bank, established in 1996 as a vehicle finance company. It
converted to a small finance bank in 2017.

10 Rajendra Prasad was an
Indian politician, lawyer, journalist, and scholar who served as the first
President of India from 1950 to 1962. He was also the Chairman of the
Constituent Assembly. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1962. He played a key
role in the Champaran Satyagraha. He wrote for Searchlight in English and
founded and edited the Hindi weekly Desh.
