1 Excavations at Jehanpora village have unearthed stupas and
monastic buildings from the Kushan period. These man-made mounds were located
with the help of faded photographs from a French museum and drone surveys. The
site connects ancient Kashmir to the Gandhara trade route and the Kushan
capital of Huvishkapura. This discovery has shed new light on the region's rich
Buddhist history, a finding that Prime Minister Modi shared in his "Mann
Ki Baat" address. This discovery highlights Kashmir's ancient cultural and
religious heritage, which was a significant center of Buddhist learning and
trade.

2 The 150th Harivallabh
Sangeet Sammelan (Harivallabh Music Conference) was recently held successfully
from December 26 to 28, 2025, at the renowned Devi Talab Mandir in
Jalandhar. Several dignitaries,
including the Governor, attended the event, and stalwarts of Indian classical
music presented their performances. This conference was dedicated to the 350th
martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and to Pandit Chhannulal Mishra.
It is the oldest Hindustani classical music festival in India. The festival is
organized in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) under the
Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

सम्मेलन (150th Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan) हाल ही में 26 से 28

3 Odisha will get its
first woman Chief Secretary on January 1, 2026. Senior IAS officer Anu Garg
will assume the charge of the post. She will succeed Manoj Ahuja, who is
retiring on December 31, 2025. Anu Garg is a 1991 batch IAS officer of the
Odisha cadre. In February 2023, she became the first woman IAS officer to serve
as the Development Commissioner of Odisha.

4 Madhya
Pradesh is launching India's first public-private partnership model medical
colleges in Dhar and Betul districts. The private partners will develop the
infrastructure, while the district hospitals will remain under the control of
the state government. The affiliated district hospitals will be upgraded
according to the National Medical Commission's standards, while remaining under
the administrative control of the state government.

5. Vice
President C.P. Radhakrishnan released a book written by Professor Sikandar
Kumar of Madhya Pradesh on December 24, 2025. The book documents India's
journey to becoming the world's fourth-largest economy through major structural
reforms. It includes key points such as GST, DBT transparency (₹47 lakh crore),
and the vision of a developed India by 2047.

6. Aryaman Financial Services Limited (AFSL) has announced that its
subsidiary has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). This
allows the company to formally enter the non-banking financial institution
(NBFC) sector under the RBI's supervision. Aryaman Finance (India) Limited has
been granted the status of a Type II NBFC – Non-Deposit Taking Investment and
Credit Company (NBFC-ICC). The company cannot accept public deposits. It can
engage in investment, lending, and credit-related activities.

7 Bandhan Bank has sold a
portfolio of non-performing microfinance loans worth ₹3,212 crore to ARCIL for
₹578 crore. The sale was conducted under the Swiss Challenge method. The bank
has also initiated the process to sell an additional ₹3,720 crore worth of
loans. These steps come at a time when the bank's asset quality was under
pressure from the microfinance sector. Bandhan Bank received its banking
license from the RBI in 2014 and launched as a full-fledged bank on August 23,
2015, becoming the first microfinance institution in India to transform into a
universal bank. ARCIL (Asset Reconstruction Company India Limited) is India's
first and leading asset reconstruction company (ARC).

8 China has opened the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world's
longest expressway tunnel. Located in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region,
the tunnel has a total length of 22.13 kilometers, making it the longest of its
kind in the world. It passes through the Tianshan Mountains in central
Xinjiang. Its construction utilized China's domestically developed hard rock
tunnel boring machine (TBM).

between Canara Bank and HSBC Insurance, has entered into a strategic
bancassurance partnership with Equitas Small Finance Bank. Under this
partnership, Canara HSBC's life insurance policies will now be available to
customers through Equitas SFB's branches and ATMs across 18 states and union
territories, thereby promoting financial inclusion and increasing insurance
penetration. Through this partnership, Canara HSBC Life will distribute its
life insurance products, including protection, savings, annuity, and child
plans.
