1 The Charaichung Festival is held in Majuli to commemorate the
restoration of Asia's first protected royal bird sanctuary (1633 AD),
established by Ahom King Swargadeo Pratap Singh. In an effort to revive and
save the nearly extinct Royal Bird Sanctuary on Majuli, the world's largest
river island, the Charaichung Festival is being held for the second time in the
island district. This four-day festival, running from December 7th to 10th, is
an initiative of Majuli literature and local people.

has chosen award-winning Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon as its 2025 Person of
the Year for her meat-free pledge, her strong commitment to protecting
wildlife, her ongoing advocacy for community animals, and her compassionate

5. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi encouraged participation in the "Your Money, Your
Rights" campaign, which has successfully returned unclaimed assets worth
₹2,000 crore to owners. Launched on October 4, the nationwide initiative aims
to facilitate the disposal of various financial assets. The campaign aims to
streamline the disposal of unclaimed assets such as bank deposits, insurance
payouts, dividends, shares, mutual funds, and pensions.

6. UNESCO declared Diwali an Intangible World Heritage Site. This
UNESCO list includes cultural and traditional elements of the world that cannot
be touched but can be experienced. It is also called Intangible World Heritage
Site. Its purpose is to preserve these cultural heritages and pass them on to
future generations. Currently, 15 heritage sites from India have already been
included in the Intangible World Heritage List. These include Durga Puja, Kumbh
Mela, Vedic chanting, Ramlila, and Chhau dance.

7 Over 24 countries will participate in the first Commonwealth Kho
Kho Championship, to be held in India from March 9 to 14 next year. The
competition will feature 16 men's and 16 women's teams. This will be the first
Commonwealth Kho Kho event in India, after Ahmedabad was recently officially
confirmed as the host city of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The KKFI, originally
known as the All India Kho Kho Federation, was founded in 1955.

about to deploy an indigenous Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) to
protect the Delhi NCR from missiles, drones and enemy aircraft. The system
includes: Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missiles (QRSAMs); Very Short Range Air
Defence System (VSHORADS); Advanced Command-and-Control Network. The Indian Air
Force (IAF) will operate this new indigenous system.

9. The Central Zoo
Authority has approved the release of 35 critically endangered vultures from
the Rani Breeding Center into Kaziranga's sixth range, located within the
Vishwanath Wildlife Division. Assam remains a key habitat, although the
population has declined sharply due to diclofenac poisoning and is recovering
slowly despite conservation efforts. A soft-release site, supported by the
BNHS, has been prepared to ensure safe acclimatization.

10 Chakravarti
Rajagopalachari B.R., also known as 'Mutharignar Rajaji' and 'The Mango of
Salem', was an Indian politician, writer, lawyer, and Indian independence
activist. He was the last Governor-General of India and the first Indian
Governor-General (in independent India). He founded the Swatantra Party and was
one of the first recipients of India's highest civilian award, the Bharat
Ratna.
