1 Japanese mathematician Masaki Kashiwara was awarded the 2025
Abel Prize for his groundbreaking contributions to algebraic analysis and
representation theory. He pioneered the theory of D-modules, an algebraic
structure for studying systems of linear partial differential equations (PDEs).
The Abel Prize is a prestigious international award, often considered the Nobel
Prize of mathematics.

2 FICCI has announced Anant Goenka as its
President-Elect for the term 2025-26. Goenka, Vice Chairman of the RPG Group,
will assume the office of President at the conclusion of the Federation of
Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry's (FICCI) 98th Annual General Meeting
in New Delhi. He will succeed current President Harsh Vardhan Agarwal.

3. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has announced a
major relief for its millions of subscribers. Members will now be able to
withdraw the entire amount from their PF accounts without any complicated
procedures or documentation. Previously, there were 13 different rules for PF
withdrawals, which have now been consolidated into a single, simple structure.
The new system will be divided into three categories: 1. Essential needs:
illness, education, marriage; 2. Housing needs; 3. Special circumstances.
PF withdrawal limits have also been increased for education and
marriage. Withdrawals will now be allowed up to 10 times for education and up
to 5 times for marriage. Previously, a member could make a maximum of three
partial withdrawals, but this limit has now been removed. As a safety measure,
25 percent of the PF account balance will now be mandatorily maintained. This
will ensure employees continue to receive interest benefits and protect their
retirement savings.
Another major decision was taken at the meeting. The EPFO
approved the 'Vishwas Scheme', which aims to eliminate long-standing
litigation related to PF deposits. Under this scheme, the penal interest has been
reduced to 1% per month. This will ease the lives of both EPFO members and
pensioners and strengthen the country's social security system.

दी गई है. अब शिक्षा के लिए 10 गुना तक और विवाह के लिए 5 गुना तक निकासी की
अनुमति होगी. पहले एक सदस्य अधिकतम तीन बार आंशिक निकासी कर सकता था, लेकिन अब यह सीमा खत्म कर दी गई है. एक सुरक्षा उपाय के तहत अब PF खाते में जमा राशि का 25 प्रतिशत हिस्सा अनिवार्य रूप से बचा रहेगा. इससे
कर्मचारियों को ब्याज का लाभ लगातार मिलता रहेगा और उनकी सेवानिवृत्ति बचत
सुरक्षित रहेगी.
बैठक में एक और बड़ा फैसला लिया गया. ईपीएफओ ने ‘विश्वास योजना' (Vishwas Scheme) को मंजूरी दी है, जिसका मकसद PF से जुड़ी पुरानी मुकदमेबाजी को खत्म करना है. इस योजना के तहत दंडात्मक ब्याज को घटाकर 1% प्रति माह कर दिया गया है. इससे ईपीएफओ सदस्य और पेंशनभोगी दोनों के जीवन में आसानी आएगी और देश की सोशल सिक्योरिटी व्यवस्था और मजबूत होगी.
4. Dr.
Sonali Ghosh, Field Director of Kaziranga National Park, has become the first
Indian to receive the prestigious WCPA-Kenton Miller Award at the IUCN World
Conservation Conference held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Kenton R. Miller Award,
established in 2006, is awarded biennially by the World Commission on Protected
Areas (WCPA) for innovation in national park and protected area sustainability.

5. Amit Shah laid the
foundation stone of the Special Operations Training Centre in Manesar, Haryana,
designed to provide advanced training for counter-terrorism operations. A new
NSG centre will be established in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, joining six existing
centres in cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad. This new training
centre will enhance the NSG's capabilities. The bill received Presidential
assent on September 22, 1986, after which the National Security Guard (NSG)
formally came into existence.

launched by the Chief Minister of Assam aimed at empowering Assamese youth to
pursue global careers. The program focuses on training, experience, placement,
and mentoring to provide Assamese youth with the skills and opportunities
needed for international job markets. This initiative is designed to address
unemployment, brain drain, and skills imbalances.

7. The Reserve
Bank of India on Monday said that banks based in India and their overseas
branches have been permitted to lend in Indian rupees to residents of Bhutan,
Nepal and Sri Lanka to facilitate cross-border trade transactions. RBI said
that as part of its continued efforts towards 'facilitating external trade and
payments', amendments have been made to the Foreign Exchange Management
(Borrowing and Lending) Regulations, 2018 and Foreign Exchange Management
(Foreign Currency Accounts by a Person Resident in India) Regulations, 2015.

8. The
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is organizing a function to commemorate
its 32nd Foundation Day on October 16, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan. Former President
of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, will be the Chief Guest on the occasion, along
with NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian. The National Human Rights
Commission has completed 32 years since its inception on October 12, 1993.

recommended N. Chandrasekaran for a third term as chairman of Tata Sons, the
Tata Group's flagship holding company. The recommendation comes amid internal
differences among the trustees of Tata Trusts, particularly over board
appointments and governance issues. Tata Trusts controls 66% of the equity in
Tata Sons.

10. The Department of Pension and Pensioners'
Welfare will conduct the fourth nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC)
campaign from November 1 to 30, 2025. The campaign will cover 2,000 districts
and subdivision headquarters across India, with a target of generating 20
million digital life certificates. The initiative aims to streamline the life
certificate process.
