1 The 78th session of the World Health Organization Regional
Committee for South-East Asia opened in Colombo, bringing together health
leaders from across the region. India's Minister of State for Health, Anupriya
Patel, will participate in the plenary session tomorrow, where she will
highlight India's role in regional health cooperation and strengthening
collective response mechanisms in South and South-East Asia.

the Best Actor (Male) award for I Want to Talk and Chandu Champion. Alia Bhatt
won Best Actress for Zigzag. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to
Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal (posthumously). Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and
Manish Paul hosted the event.

3. North Korea displayed its most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Hwasong-20, during a military parade led by Kim Jong Un. The Hwasong-20 is described as North Korea's most powerful nuclear strategic weapon and is believed to have the capability to target the US mainland. The parade was attended by international dignitaries.

4. The 2025
Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter
Howitt for their contributions to the elucidation of innovation-driven growth
and the theory of creative destruction. Their work demonstrates how
technological progress propels economies from stagnation to sustainable
prosperity by fostering continuous innovation. The prize amount is 11 million
Swedish kronor.

5. Minister of State for
External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will lead the Indian delegation to the
19th Mid-Term Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala,
Uganda. Uganda will chair NAM for 2024-26 and the theme of this ministerial
meeting is 'Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence'. India is a
founding member of NAM.

6. Five beaches in Maharashtra have been
awarded Blue Flag certification, including Shrivardhan and Nagaon in Raigad,
Parnaka in Palghar, and Guhagar and Ladghar in Ratnagiri. Blue Flag certification
is an international eco-label awarded by the Denmark-based non-profit
organisation Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to beaches, marinas
and sustainable boating tourism operators that meet 33 stringent criteria. It
was established in France in 1985 and has been implemented outside Europe since
2001.

7. The fourth
edition of the India-Australia joint military exercise Austrahind 2025 will
begin in Perth, Australia. An Indian Army contingent of 120 personnel, led by a
battalion of the Gorkha Rifles, will participate. The exercise aims to enhance
military cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform for the
exchange of tactics, techniques, and procedures in sub-conventional warfare.

8. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Nagaland's first
integrated aqua park at Tzudikong under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada
Yojana. The aqua park will focus on fish and seed production and will play a
key role in advancing Nagaland's fisheries sector. It will serve as a resource
center providing quality inputs, market linkages, and equitable pricing for
fish products.

9. The Reserve Bank of
India has appointed Sonali Sen Gupta as its new executive director, effective
October 9, 2025. With over three decades of experience at the central bank, Sen
Gupta will now lead key departments including consumer education and
protection, and financial inclusion. Currently, she also serves as the RBI's nominee
director on the board of Indian Overseas Bank.

10. The Technology Chip Innovation Program
(T-CHIP) inaugurated the Semiconductor Innovation Museum in Hyderabad. The
museum aims to showcase India's growing capabilities in semiconductor design
and manufacturing, as well as serve as a hub for innovation, investment, and
talent discovery.
