1. Ms TCA Kalyani, a 1991 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service
officer, assumed charge as the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the
Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance today. She becomes the 29th
officer to hold this prestigious post, and has an impressive experience of over
34 years in government service. Her leadership was instrumental in the
implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for providing
fertilizer subsidy directly to farmers, which marked a significant step towards
digitalisation and financial inclusion in Indian governance.

2 The
21st edition of the joint military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' is going on from 1 to
14 September 2025 at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. The Madras Regiment of the Indian
Army and the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment of the US Army are
participating in it. The exercise focuses on heliborne operations, mountain
warfare, and surveillance techniques. There are several joint military
exercises between India and the US, the major ones being Yudh Abhyas (between
military troops), Vajra Hit (exercises of special troops), and Mangalbar (naval
exercise also involving Japan and Australia).

3. BWF announced New Delhi as the host city for the 2026 Badminton
World Championships. India is hosting the tournament after 17 years; it was
last held in Hyderabad in 2009. The announcement was made at the closing
ceremony of the 2025 Paris Championships. It was attended by the BWF president,
the head of the French federation and the secretary general of the Badminton
Association of India.

4. A big
step is being taken to make road traffic in India even smarter and faster. The
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed an agreement with the
Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) and ICICI Bank to implement
the country's first multi-lane free flow tolling system. This facility will
first start at Choryasi Toll Plaza (NH 48) in Gujarat.

5. The Indian Army is
forming a Light Bhairav Commando Battalion for quick action on the China and
Pakistan border. Initially, five battalions will be formed, which will have 250
commandos. The army's target is to prepare the first five units by October 31.
These battalions will fill the gap between the regular infantry and special
forces and will be equipped with modern weapons. The army will form 23 Bhairav
battalions to give a befitting reply to the enemies on the border. The army
currently has 415 infantry battalions, from which these Bhairav battalions
will be formed by taking soldiers. These units will be equipped with the latest
weapons, gadgets and drones. They will be ready to take quick action and work
in difficult situations.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (September 2) unveiled India's first indigenous 32-bit microchip Vikram at Semicon India 2025. On this occasion, Union IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnav handed over the Vikram processor and test chips to the Prime Minister. This processor has been developed by the Semiconductor Laboratory of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The Vikram processor is a completely indigenously made 32-bit microchip. It has been tested and approved for use in spacecraft.

8. Yes Bank
has announced that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the
reappointment of former RBI deputy governor R Gandhi as part-time non-executive
chairman. His term will be from September 20, 2025, to May 13, 2027. Gandhi, a
veteran central banker with 37 years of experience, previously served as RBI
deputy governor from 2014 to 2017.

9. The Appointments
Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the Union Home Ministry's proposal
to appoint Sanjay Singhal as the new Director General of the Sashastra Seema
Bal. He will replace Amrit Mohan Prasad, who is due to retire on August 31,
2025. Sanjay Singhal will hold the post of Director General of Sashastra Seema
Bal till his retirement on December 31, 2028 or until further orders. On May
15, 1963, a new force, the Special Service Corps, was raised with B.N. Malik as
its director. The Sashastra Seema Bal guards the 1751 km long Indo-Nepal border
and the 699 km long Indo-Bhutan border.

10. Unity Bank and BharatPe
have launched India's first RuPay EMI-based credit card with UPI linkage,
rewards, zero fees and flexible repayment options. BharatPe, Unity Bank has
launched India's first solar-based RuPay credit card. The card is also enabled
for UPI payments, increasing its share in the country's vast network.
