1 Dr. Kanada Das took charge as the 13th Director of the Botanical
Survey of India (BSI). This is the first time a mycologist has headed the
institute. The BSI, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate
Change (MoEFCC), has played a central role in cataloging and conserving India's
plant biodiversity since 1890. Headquartered in Kolkata and with 11 regional
centers, the BSI's mission is to explore, document, and conserve India's floral
wealth.

2 India's marine conservation efforts have
received a major recognition internationally. The International Union for
Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has adopted a resolution officially recognising
India's first dugong conservation reserve. The resolution was passed during the
IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 held in Abu Dhabi, Tamil Nadu government
established the dugong conservation reserve on September 21, 2022 under the
Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

3. FIFA has unveiled three mascots for the 2026 World Cup: Clutch the
Bald Eagle (USA), Maple the Moose (Canada) and Xayu the Jaguar (Mexico). This
is the first senior men's World Cup to feature multiple mascots, in line with
the multi-national hosting format and the tournament's expansion to 48 teams.
Maple – a moose, Xayu – a jaguar and Clutch – a bald eagle, will respectively
represent the three host countries of the 2026 FIFA World Cup: Canada, Mexico
and the United States. FIFA President is Gianni Infantino.

4. The
foreign ministers of the G4 countries (Brazil, Germany, India, and Japan) met
on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The meeting discussed
the status and future prospects for UN Security Council reform. Indian Foreign
Minister S. Jaishankar discussed with the G4 countries the need to expand the
Council in both permanent and non-permanent categories to reflect current
geopolitical realities, enhancing its representativeness, legitimacy,
effectiveness, and efficiency.

5. Union Minister for Road
Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari launched the trials of India's first
"Hydrogen Highway," which will accelerate the country's hydrogen
fueling initiative. The project involves setting up hydrogen refueling stations
along strategic national highway corridors for long-distance hydrogen-powered
freight transport. The trials will run for two years and will cover key routes
such as Faridabad, Sahibabad, Greater Noida, Delhi, Agra, connecting industry
clusters, ports, and freight corridors.
केंद्रीय सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ने
भारत के पहले "हाइड्रोजन हाईवे" के ट्रायल का शुभारंभ किया,

6. The RBI has imposed a fine of ₹2.7 lakh
on Muthoot Fincorp for non-compliance with internal ombudsman norms. An
inspection revealed that the company lacked a system for automatically
escalating partially or fully rejected complaints. This fine addresses
regulatory compliance deficiencies and does not impact customer transactions,
allowing the RBI to take further action. Muthoot Finance was established in
1997 and is an NBFC.

7. Bank of
Baroda said it has received approval from the International Financial Services
Centres Authority (IFSA) to operate as a trading-cum-clearing member (TCM) in
the GIFT City-based India International Bullion Exchange IFSC Limited (IIBX).
IIBX, slated to be launched in July 2022, is India's first international
bullion exchange. Bank of Baroda (BoB) is a leading public sector bank in India
headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held a special meeting with the
ministers of the India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA) Academic Forum in New
York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. The main focus of
the meeting was on issues such as maritime security, exercises and trade,
including the reform of the permanent membership of the UNSC. IBSA stands for
the Academic Forum of India, Brazil and South Africa. It is a platform to
promote academic and research cooperation among the IBSA countries India,
Brazil and South Africa.

9. The central government
has extended the term of senior advocate R. Venkataramani as Attorney General
of India for two years, with effect from October 1, 2025. This reappointment,
confirmed by the Ministry of Law and Justice, ensures that he will continue as
the top law officer of the central government until September 30, 2027.
केंद्र सरकार ने वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता आर. वेंकटरमणी का भारत के

10. The Cold Desert Biosphere Reserve (CDBR) in
Himachal Pradesh has been included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves
(WNBR) by UNESCO along with 25 other biosphere reserves from several countries.
With this, India now has 13 biosphere reserves listed in the WNBR. The Man and
the Biosphere Programme (MAB) is a UNESCO international scientific programme
launched in 1971. Its main objective is to improve the relationship between
people and the environment on a scientific basis.
