1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday said its Central
Board has approved the nomination of Executive Director Indranil Bhattacharya
as an ex-officio member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The decision
was taken at the 618th meeting of the Central Board of Directors held under the
chairmanship of Governor Sanjay Malhotra in Lucknow. The Monetary Policy
Committee (MPC) is a 6-member committee responsible for deciding the benchmark
interest rate. The MPC is chaired by the RBI Governor.

2 NASA
announced the discovery of Uranus' 29th satellite, S/2025 U1.The moon was
identified on February 2, 2025 by a team led by the Southwest Research
Institute (SwRI). The moon has an estimated diameter of 10 kilometers and
orbits Uranus at a distance of about 56,000 kilometers. Saturn has the most
satellites. According to recent discoveries, Saturn has 146 natural satellites,
more than any other planet in the solar system.

3. The Supreme Court on August 22 pronounced its order on a
petition seeking a stay on its August 11 order directing that stray dogs be
removed from the streets of Delhi-NCR and permanently shifted to dog shelters.
The court said that the dogs sent to shelter homes should be released after
sterilization. The Supreme Court said that dogs suffering from rabies should
not be released. Three Supreme Court judges Justice Vikram Nath, Justice
Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria were hearing the case.

4. In
Nagaland, ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha has been awarded the Best KVK

6. The Indian Army has started the Samanway
Shakti 2025 exercise in Tinsukia district of Assam. Samanway Shakti 2025 is a
10-day military-civilian integration exercise. It aims to promote cooperation,
cohesion and mutual understanding. The exercise involves the Indian Army,
Indian Air Force, police, intelligence agencies and district administration.

8. The Indian men's air rifle team of Arjun Babuta, Rudraksh Patil
and Kiran Jadhav won the gold medal in the men's 10m air rifle event at the
Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. They defeated the Chinese
trio of Li Xianhao, Lu Dingke and Wang Honghao. In the women's junior skeet
competition, Manasi Raghuvanshi won the gold medal with 53 points in the final.

9. The Fortified Rice Scheme has been extended till December 2028
with a budget of ₹17,082 crore. The scheme aims to improve the nutritional
profile of school-going children, adolescents and women. The initiative was
launched in 2018 with the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) programme and a pilot
project of rice fortification in 2019.

10. India has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Executive
Board of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) with the
highest number of votes during the 23rd AIBD Conference held in Phuket,
Thailand from 19th to 21st of this month. India is a founding member of AIBD
and Prasar Bharati represents the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in
the organisation.
