shuttler Devika Sihag won the women's singles title at the Malaysia
International Challenge Badminton 2025 tournament held in Ipoh on Sunday.
20-year-old Devika was part of the Indian women's badminton team that won the
bronze medal at the World University Games 2025 in Germany. 20-year-old Devika
defeated fifth seeded compatriot Isharani Barua 15-7, 15-12 in the final.

5. Russia is set to launch
a Venera-D mission to revisit Venus before 2036. According to Oleg Korablev of
the Space Research Institute (IKI), preliminary design work will begin in
January 2026 as part of the country's new national space program. The mission
will include a lander, a balloon probe and an orbital spacecraft, with launch
expected between 2034 and 2036.
रूस 2036 से पहले शुक्र ग्रह पर पुनः जाने के लिए वेनेरा-डी

6. In a bid to tackle financial fraud, the
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has directed banks and payment
apps to discontinue peer-to-peer (P2P) 'collection requests' on UPI by October
1, 2025. The decision will impact major UPI apps such as PhonePe, Google Pay
and Paytm. The move is aimed at enhancing security by ensuring that all P2P
transactions are initiated by the payer, thereby reducing the risk of fraud.
The feature allows any user to send a money request to another UPI user. As
soon as the other person accepts the request and enters their UPI PIN, the
amount is transferred.

7. Indian Overseas Bank has partnered with Mumbai Metro One to
provide ticketing solutions including smart cards, paper tickets and QR-based
options for commuters on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar line. The collaboration
aims to enhance convenience for 4,50,000 daily commuters and promote digital
payments in Mumbai's public transport system by integrating with Mumbai Metro's
ticketing API.

8. Indian Railways has achieved a new milestone. Banaras
Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi has installed the country's first 70-meter
removable solar panel system between the tracks. A total of 28 solar panels
have been installed in it, which together will generate 15 kilowatt peak (kWp)
of electricity. This project is a major achievement of Indian Railways towards
green and sustainable transport. This system is removable, that is, the panels
can be easily removed when needed.

10. Erin, the first Atlantic hurricane of 2025, has grown in
strength and became a major hurricane in Atlantic waters just north of the
Caribbean Islands yesterday evening. The US National Hurricane Center (NHC) in
an update downgraded it from a Category 5 to a Category 4 hurricane, with
maximum sustained winds of 240 kmph. The storm is moving west-northwest and
turning to the north. It is expected to bring heavy rain to the northern
Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico today.
