1. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art space laboratory at Mechuka Government Higher Secondary School in the remote Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Muskan Foundation, was formally inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona on August 16, 2025. The newly established Pasang Wangchuk Sona ISRO Space Laboratory aims to provide practical learning opportunities in space science and technology. To promote curiosity, innovation and scientific temper among students.

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) ने अरुणाचल प्रदेश के सुदूर शि-योमी ज़िले के मेचुका सरकारी उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय में एक अत्याधुनिक अंतरिक्ष प्रयोगशाला का उद्घाटन किया है। मुस्कान फ़ाउंडेशन के सहयोग से शुरू की गई इस पहल का औपचारिक उद्घाटन अरुणाचल प्रदेश के शिक्षा मंत्री पासंग दोरजी सोना ने 16 अगस्त, 2025 को किया। नव स्थापित पसांग वांगचुक सोना इसरो अंतरिक्ष प्रयोगशाला का लक्ष्य है, अंतरिक्ष विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी में व्यावहारिक शिक्षण के अवसर प्रदान करना। छात्रों में जिज्ञासा, नवाचार और वैज्ञानिक सोच को बढ़ावा देना।

 2   In August 2025, India achieved a new milestone in ocean exploration. Two Indian sailors descended to a depth of 4,025 and 5,002 metres respectively in the Atlantic Ocean. With this feat, India has joined the six countries that have explored to such depths. The expedition was part of Indo-French cooperation using the French submarine Nautile. It lays the groundwork for India's upcoming ocean exploration mission.

This marks the fourth consecutive year they've held the title, also receiving the highest AAA+ rating for brand strength.

 4. Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX-25) began with the arrival of a guided missile destroyer, INS Rana, and a fleet tanker, INS Jyoti, in Colombo. Held from 14 to 18 August 2025, this 12th edition symbolizes the growing maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka under the Ocean Initiative. SLINEX, conceived in 2005, has evolved into a major bilateral maritime exercise aimed at promoting interoperability, maritime cooperation and exchange of best practices.

श्रीलंका-भारत नौसैनिक अभ्यास (SLINEX-25) एक निर्देशित मिसाइल विध्वंसक, INS राणा और एक बेड़े के टैंकर, INS ज्योति के कोलंबो पहुँचने के साथ शुरू हुआ। 14 से 18 अगस्त 2025 तक आयोजित, यह 12वाँ संस्करण महासागर पहल के तहत भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच बढ़ते समुद्री सहयोग का प्रतीक है। 2005 में परिकल्पित SLINEX, एक प्रमुख द्विपक्षीय समुद्री अभ्यास के रूप में विकसित हुआ है जिसका उद्देश्य अंतर-संचालन, समुद्री सहयोग और सर्वोत्तम प्रथाओं के आदान-प्रदान को बढ़ावा देना है।

 5. The address of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) is about to change. Currently, the PMO is located in South Block, which will shift to Executive Enclave next month. Apart from the Prime Minister's Office, this new enclave built under the Central Vista Project will also have the Cabinet Secretariat, National Security Council Secretariat and advanced conferencing facilities. It is worth noting that the new PMO is as close as possible to the Prime Minister's residence.

प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय यानी (PMO) का पता बदलने वाला है। वर्तमान में पीएमओ साउथ ब्लॉक में स्थित है जो अगले महीने एग्जिक्यूटिव एन्कलेए में शिफ्ट हो जाएगा।सेंट्रल विस्टा प्रोजेक्ट के तहत तैयार किए गए इस नए एन्क्लेव में प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय के अलावा कैबिनेट सचिवालय, राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा परिषद सचिवालय और एडवांस कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग सुविधा भी होगी। गौरतलब है कि नया PMO प्रधानमंत्री के आवास से अधिक से ज्यादा नजदीक है।

 6. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan said that India will now also go towards Venus for which Shukrayaan mission has been approved. India became the first country to land on the south pole of the moon. Gaganyaan mission is in the final stage and the target is to establish Indian space station by 2035. Soil samples will be brought from the moon in Chandrayaan-4. India aims to establish its Indian Space Station (BAS) by the year 2035. For this, the deployment of the initial module will start from 2027 itself.

इसरो के अध्यक्ष डॉ. वी. नारायणन ने कहा कि भारत अब शुक्र ग्रह की ओर भी जाएगा जिसके लिए शुक्रयान मिशन को मंजूरी मिल गई है। भारत चंद्रमा के दक्षिणी ध्रुव पर लैंड करने वाला पहला देश बना। गगनयान मिशन अंतिम चरण में है और 2035 तक भारतीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन स्थापित करने का लक्ष्य है। चंद्रयान-4 में चंद्रमा से मिट्टी के नमूने लाए जाएंगे। भारत का लक्ष्य है कि वर्ष 2035 तक अपना भारतीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन (बीएएस) स्थापित करें। इसके लिए प्रारंभिक माड्यूल की तैनाती 2027 से ही शुरू हो जाएगी।

7. According to a release issued by the President's Office, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla was given the additional charge of Governor of Nagaland on Saturday (August 16, 2025). The post was vacant after the death of Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan. Under the Seventh Constitutional Amendment (1956), the same person can be appointed as the Governor of two or more states. The main objective of this amendment was to bring administrative efficiency and uniformity to the governors, especially after the reorganization of states on linguistic basis.

8. The Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy 2025 will be held from 20 to 23 August 2025 at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Raipur, Dehradun. ISAI President Amitabh Sharma said that more than 11 Asian countries will participate in this historic competition. These include China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines and India.

The 20-year-old drew with Dutch Grandmaster Jordy van Foreest to secure the title, while other results confirmed his victory. His performance also took him into the world's top 10 in the live ratings for the first time.

10. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday declared Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election to be held on September 9. Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan is currently serving as the 24th Governor of Maharashtra, a post he assumed on July 31, 2024. He earlier served as the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. The post of Vice President fell vacant after Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned citing health reasons on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on July 21.
