1. The Union Health Ministry has launched the State Health
Regulatory Excellence Index (SHRESH) to standardise and strengthen drug
regulating systems across states through a transparent, data-driven framework.
The SHREST initiative, proposed by the Central Drugs Standard Control
Organisation (CDSCO), aims to improve the performance of state drug regulatory
authorities across the country, and ensure that drug safety and quality
standards are consistently met.

2 The
18th International Astronomy Olympiad is being organized by Homi Bhabha Centre
for Science Education (HBCSE), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. 64
countries of the world are expected to participate in this historic event to be
held from 11 to 21 August 2025. The much-awaited International Olympiad will
welcome more than 300 talented young astronomers from around the world.

3. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released
the country's first manual for rating properties for digital connectivity,
providing a standardised framework to assess how effectively buildings are
equipped for high-speed, reliable digital access. TRAI said robust in-building
connectivity is now imperative for work, education, healthcare and everyday
digital services, as weak networks directly impact user experience and overall
service quality.

4. The
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Wednesday formally approved India's bid to
host the 2030 Commonwealth Games during its Special General Meeting (SGM).
India has already submitted an expression of interest, proposing Ahmedabad as
the host city. The final bid proposals are to be submitted by August 31.
India's chances of hosting the Games have increased after Canada's exit from
the race. India last hosted the multi-sport event in 2010 in New Delhi.

5. Australia will formally
recognise the State of Palestine at the 80th United Nations General Assembly
(UNGA) in September 2025. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the move on
August 11, 2025, saying it aims to boost international momentum for a two-state
solution, support a ceasefire in Gaza, and press for the release of hostages.

6. The 79th Independence Day in India will
be celebrated on August 15, 2025, marking nearly 80 years of freedom, progress,

walk on the path of building a strong, inclusive, and vibrant India.

7. My Bharat has signed a three-year agreement with School of
Ultimate Leadership Foundation (SOUL) for youth leadership development. The
partnership aims to prepare more than one lakh young leaders (aged 18-29 years)
across India. Its focus areas include governance, public policy, social entrepreneurship,
digital literacy, financial literacy, etc.

नेतृत्व विकास के लिए माई भारत ने स्कूल ऑफ अल्टीमेट लीडरशिप फाउंडेशन (SOUL) के साथ तीन साल
के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। इस साझेदारी का उद्देश्य पूरे भारत में एक लाख से
ज़्यादा युवा नेताओं (18-29 वर्ष की आयु) को तैयार करना है। इसके प्रमुख क्षेत्रों

8. Chhath Puja is not limited to Bihar or Uttar Pradesh only.
Today this festival is being celebrated in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengal, Nepal, Fiji,
Mauritius and even America. For the NRIs living abroad, it has become a medium
to connect with the roots of culture. This list started by UNESCO records those
traditions, rituals and cultural activities which are the common heritage of
humanity but which do not have any physical form.

विरासत हैं लेकिन जिनका कोई भौतिक स्वरूप नहीं होता।
9. The Government of India has announced the National Mission for
Natural Farming (NMNF) on 25 November 2024, with an allocation of ₹2,481 crore.
The scheme has been launched with the aim of promoting natural farming across
the country. The mission aims to cover 1 crore farmers and cover about 7,50,000
hectares of land in the next two years. It is an independent centrally
sponsored scheme and will be implemented by the 15th Finance Commission cycle
(2025-26).
भारत सरकार ने 25 नवम्बर 2024 को राष्ट्रीय प्राकृतिक खेती
मिशन (NMNF) की घोषणा की है, जिसमें ₹2,481 करोड़ की राशि आवंटित की गई है। यह योजना देश भर में
प्राकृतिक खेती को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से शुरू की गई है। इस मिशन का लक्ष्य
अगले दो वर्षों में 1 करोड़ किसानों को कवर करना और लगभग 7,50,000 हेक्टेयर भूमि को शामिल करना है। यह एक स्वतंत्र केंद्र
प्रायोजित योजना है और जिसे 15वें वित्त आयोग चक्र (2025-26) तक लागू किया जाएगा।
10. India's Test captain Shubman Gill has been named the ICC Men's
Player of the Month for July 2025, beating Ben Stokes (England) and Wiaan
Mulder (South Africa) to the feat. This is Gill's fourth Player of the Month
award - he previously won the award in February 2025, January 2023 and September
2023. In the women's category, Sophia Dunkley (England) won her first ICC
Women's Player of the Month award.
