1. The Maharashtra Special Public Safety (MSPS) Bill,
2024—commonly called the ‘Urban Maoism’ Bill—was recently passed by the
Maharashtra Assembly. Maharashtra joins states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh,
Odisha and Jharkhand in enacting such a special public safety law. The bill
aims to criminalise support to combat urban Naxalism—be it written, verbal,
symbolic or violent.

2 France has signed a historic agreement with
New Caledonia to create a new state. The proposed New Caledonia state will
exist within the French Republic. The French constitution will be amended to
include the new state. A new Caledonian nationality will be created alongside

7. Gujarat has become the first state in India to join the Cruise
India Mission, a national initiative to promote cruise tourism. Gujarat has
officially partnered with the Cruise India Mission launched by Union Minister
