Let the cost price be Rs.100.

Gain % = 40%

Selling price = Rs.140

Let the marked price be Rs. x.

Selling price = x –
140 =

x = 175
Required percentage = = 75%

2-Sol. (B)

Let Taimur's present age be x years.

(x – 7) (x + 2) = 52

x2 + 2x – 7x – 14 = 52

x2 – 5x – 66 = 0

x2 – 11x + 6x – 66 = 0

x = 11, x = – 6

3-Sol. (B)

(2277 ÷ 23) + (1950 ÷ 26) – (1053 ÷ 13) = ?

99 + 75 – 81 = ?

? = 93
