SBI Apprentice Eligibility Criteria & Qualification for 2022

Every candidate dreams of getting a job in The State Bank of India (SBI) since it is the largest Indian public sector bank. Though the SBI Apprentice position does not make you a permanent bank employee, you will receive a lot of training about bank-related work. The training will build your banking knowledge, and the certification will help you apply for other banking positions. However, to qualify for the post, you need to clear the SBI apprentice exam first. Understanding the SBI apprentice syllabus is the key to clearing the exam.

Here we will provide you with essential information like the details of the SBI apprentice exam pattern to help you prepare accordingly. As per the SBI apprentice notification, there are 6100 vacancies, and the exam will be in August 2022. Candidates can get the exact SBI apprentice exam date later by logging on to the official website.

Stages in the SBI Apprentice Selection Process

In the selection process, there are 2 stages, and final recruitment is based on the results of both stages. An interview round is not conducted for SBI apprentice selection.

  • Online Written Test

This will be an objective-type test and bilingual (English and Hindi).

  • Local Language Test

It will be in the language specific to the state you are applying for.


This is the SBI Apprentice syllabus for the online written test:

There will be 4 sections, General Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Quantitative Aptitude. There will be 25 questions asked in each section and 25 marks for each section. The total duration of the test will be one hour.

Aspirants should not have received training in SBI or any other organization earlier. 

A candidate who has previously received training or has experience is not qualified to be employed as an apprentice.


SBI Apprentice Eligibility - Important points

  1. Age limit

You are qualified to appear for the exam only if you fall within the age limit mentioned above. Remember to produce all essential documents to verify your age. To qualify for age relaxation, you must produce the original documents issued by the government or relevant authorized body.


Age Relaxation Details for SBI Apprentice

  • Economically  weaker section – No age relaxation

  • Unreserved – No age relaxation

  • Scheduled Caste (SC) – 5 years

  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) – 5 years

  • Other Backward Castes (OBCs) – 3 years

  • General PwD – 10 years

  • Scheduled Castes PwD – 15 years

  • Scheduled Tribes PwD –  15 years

  • Other Backward Castes PWD – 13 years

  1. Education

An aspirant should have graduated in any stream or possess an equivalent qualification approved by the central or state government.

  1. Experience

No prior experience is required for the SBI apprentice position. You can apply after graduating, but ensure that you meet the age limits stated in the SBI apprentice notification.

  1. Number of Attempts

You can apply any number of times, provided you do not cross the maximum age limit of 28 and meet the other eligibility criteria.

  1. Persons with Disabilities

You can apply for the post if you are a person with Benchmark disabilities as stated in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (section 34). Please note that only persons with benchmark disability, with at least 40% of specified disability as certified by the relevant authority, can apply.


These benchmark disabilities are defined in the Schedule of RPWD Act 2016 and include Locomotor Disabilities, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Mental illness, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  1. Documents

All essential documents that prove your eligibility criteria need to be submitted. Whether you are claiming age relaxation or are a person with a disability, you need to submit the relevant certification. Your signature on the documents and photograph must match. Even final year students are eligible to apply for the position of SBI apprentice, provided they produce proof of their passing the exam during document verification. 

  1. Local language

If you are applying for vacancies in a specific state, you should be well-versed in one of the specified languages of that state.
