RRB Group D Preparation 2022


The RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) exam is conducted to recruit candidates for various posts in the Indian Railways on the Group D scale. It is a great opportunity for the candidates looking for a government job in Indian Railways with a lucrative salary package and various other benefits. 


Lakhs of students appear for the Group D RRB exam, which makes it highly competitive. But with hard work, persistence, and dedication, students can crack the exam. In this article, we'll discuss how to crack the Railway Group D exam so the students can plan and prepare accordingly. 

RRB Group D Preparation Tips 

According to the RRB Group D exam pattern, it has four stages:


  • Computer Based Test (CBT-1)

  • Computer Based Test (CBT-2)

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • Document Verification and Medical


The exam has four sections, namely, General Science, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Mathematics, and General Awareness & Current Affairs. The total marks for CBT-1 exam are 100, while 120 for CBT-2. The section-wise RRB Group D preparation tips are given below: 

Ⅰ. For General Science


The General Science section of the RRB Group D exam is based on the 10th and 12th standards. Hence aspirants should focus on studying NCERT books to revise the basics and build conceptual understanding. 


Some other points to consider:

  • The primary step is to thoroughly understand the General Science syllabus and divide your strong and weak areas. 

  • Jot down the important points while preparing, so it becomes easier to revise later. 

  • Understand the basics of each topic and avoid cramming. 

  • Divide time for each topic and try to complete the syllabus within the stipulated time period. 

  • Attempt RRB Group D mock tests and previous years’ question papers on a daily basis as it will help you get a fair understanding of the exam pattern and difficulty level of the paper. 

 

Ⅱ. For Mathematics 

This section is designed to test the problem-solving and mathematical abilities of the candidates. Preparing for this section is not a difficult task as the level of the questions is at par with high school mathematics. By devoting 3-4 hours per day to this section, candidates can easily crack this section.


  • Learn some shortcut tricks and methods to solve RRB Group D Maths questions quickly and accurately. 

  • Learn tables, squares, cubes to do the mathematical calculations faster. 

  • Understand the formulas and concepts so you can solve the questions easily. 

  • Set a short-term goal and try to achieve it. 

  • Identify your weaker areas and work towards improving those areas.

  • Focus on strengthening your stronger areas. 

  • Refer to previous year's question papers and solve mock tests on a daily basis. 


Ⅲ. For General Intelligence and Reasoning

General Intelligence and Reasoning may seem a tricky section to crack, but it is one of the most scoring subjects. The key to ace this section is to practice regularly and remain stress-free during the exam. 


  • Reasoning skills can be strengthened by solving puzzles on a daily basis. 

  • Attempt questions from previous year's question papers to get the hang of the question pattern. 

  • Aspirants must prepare a plan that focuses on improving their weaker areas. 

  • Mock tests must be attempted on a regular basis to get a proper understanding of the exam pattern. 

  • Analyzing your mock tests is crucial to score well. It will help you know where you went wrong and avoid similar mistakes in the exam. 

  • Make sure you're referring to the best study material. 


Ⅳ. For General Awareness and Current Affairs

Group D Current Affairs section will assess a candidate's general awareness of the country and worldwide. When it comes to General Awareness, one must always stay abreast of the current news. Maximum questions in this section are from the topics of Science, Technology, Sports, Culture, Economics, Personalities, Politics, etc. 


Candidates must keep themselves updated with recent events and news. For this, students watch current affairs videos, read newspapers and magazines, note down important points, and revise them regularly.


  • This is an extensive subject with no fixed syllabus; hence students must keep track of all the critical national and international affairs to ace this section.

  • Students must refer to books like the Manorama Year Book, watch the news regularly, discuss national and international affairs with their peers, so it is easier to remember, and attempt different kinds of GK quizzes to increase their sectional score.
