The Institute of Banking and Personnel Selection (IBPS) releases the IBPS RRB recruitment notification for various regional rural banks every year. In the official notification, the IBPS releases the exam pattern for each of the RRB posts separately.

IBPS RRB PO Syllabus

IBPS selection process comprises two written examinations: Prelims and Mains. There is also an interview round for the position of Probationary Officer (PO). 


Candidates need to clear the prelims exam to qualify for the Mains exam. To prepare better, you need to know the syllabus for both stages.

  • Numerical Ability

Number System and Data Interpretation Bar Graph, Line Graph & Pie chart; HCF & LCM; Time & Work; Simple Interest & Compound Interest; Profit & Loss; Time & Distance; Decimal & Fraction; Averages; Partnership; Simplification; Percentages; Ratio & Proportion; Averages; Permutation & Combination; Case Studies Charts and Graphs; Probability.

  • General Awareness

Current Affairs National & International; Currencies & Capitals; Sports Abbreviations; Government Schemes & Policies; General Science; RBI; Banking Awareness; National Parks & Sanctuaries. 

  • Computer Knowledge

Fundamentals of Computer; Future of Computers; History of Computers; Networking Software & Hardware; Basic Knowledge of Internet; MS Office; Database; Abbreviations Shortcut Keys; Security Tools; Hacking; Virus; Trojans Input and Output Devices; Computer Languages.

  • English/Hindi Language

The candidates can choose any subject from English and Hindi in the Mains exam. The syllabus for both the subjects are given below:

(a) English Language

Reading Comprehensions; Grammar; Spotting Errors; Misspelled Words; Fill in the Blanks; Jumbled Words; Rearrangement of Sentence; Idioms and Phrases; Jumbled up sentences; Cloze Tests; One-word Substitution; Antonyms and Synonyms.

(b) Hindi Language

Vyakaran; Fill in the blanks; Paragraphs; Mistakes; Synonyms and Antonyms; Miscellaneous. 

IBPS RRB PO Exam Pattern 2022

The IBPS RRB PO comprises RRB Preliminary and RRB Mains exams that candidates are required to clear in order to be considered for that post. Thereafter, candidates have to appear for an interview. 

Some important points regarding the exam pattern are given below:

  • The exam is conducted in online mode. It is a CBT model test that is a computer-based test.

  • Questions asked in the RRB PO exam will be multiple-choice questions (MCQ).

  • The applicants have a choice of language, i.e., either Hindi or English. 

  • One-fourth of the marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
