Indian Navy launches its new survey vessel 'Sandhayak'

- ‘Sandhayak’, the first of the four Survey Vessels (Large) project being built for the Indian Navy, was launched in Kolkata on December 05, 2021. ‘Sandhayak’ made her first contact with the waters of Hooghly River at the Launch Ceremony graced by Ajay Bhatt, Raksha Rajya Mantri. In keeping with the Naval maritime tradition, Pushpa Bhatt, spouse of Ajay Bhatt, launched the ship to the chanting of invocation from Atharva Veda. 

- भारतीय नौसेना के लिए बनाए जा रहे चार सर्वेक्षण पोत (लार्ज) प्रोजेक्ट में से पहला 'संध्याक' 05 दिसंबर, 2021 को कोलकाता में लॉन्च किया गया। 'संध्याक' ने हुगली नदी के जल के साथ अपना पहला संपर्क अजय भट्ट,  रक्षा राज्य मंत्री द्वारा आयोजित लॉन्च समारोह में किया। नौसेना की सामुद्रिक परंपरा के अनुरूप अजय भट्ट की पत्नी पुष्पा भट्ट ने अथर्ववेद से मंत्र जाप से जहाज का शुभारंभ किया।

- These Vessels have been designed and developed by Defence Public Sector Undertaking, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited, which is among the leading warship building companies in India.

- इन वेसल्स को रक्षा क्षेत्र में सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र के उपक्रम गार्डन रीच शिपबिल्डर्स एंड इंजीनियर्स (जीआरएसई) लिमिटेड, जो भारत में अग्रणी युद्धपोत निर्माण कंपनियों में से एक है, द्वारा डिजाइन और विकसित किया गया है।

- These survey ships are capable of full scale coastal & deep-water hydrographic survey of Ports & Harbour approaches and determination of navigational channels & routes. These ships are also capable of undertaking survey of maritime limits and collection of Oceanographic & Geographical data for Defence applications, thus boosting the maritime capabilities of the country.

- ये सर्वेक्षण पोत बंदरगाहों और हार्बर के पूर्ण पैमाने पर तटीय और गहरे पानी वाले हाइड्रोग्राफिक सर्वेक्षण और नौवहन चैनलों और मार्गों के निर्धारण में सक्षम हैं। ये जहाज समुद्री सीमाओं का सर्वेक्षण करने और रक्षा अनुप्रयोगों के लिए समुद्र संबंधी और भौगोलिक डेटा के संग्रह में भी सक्षम हैं, इस प्रकार यह देश की समुद्री क्षमताओं को बढ़ावा देता है।

- These ships are propelled by two Marine Diesel Engines combined with Fixed Pitch Propellers and fitted with Bow & Stern Thrusters for manoeuvring at low speeds during surveys. In their secondary role, these ships would be capable of performing roles such as Search & Rescue and Disaster Relief, besides serving as Hospital ship with limited facilities during emergencies. The ships will have a retractable Hangar for stowage of a Utility helicopter

- इन जहाजों को फिक्स्ड पिच प्रोपेलर के साथ संयुक्त दो समुद्री डीजल इंजनों द्वारा संचालित किया जाता है और सर्वेक्षण के दौरान कम गति पर चलने के लिए बो और स्टर्न थ्रस्टर्स से सुसज्जित किए गए हैं। अपनी दूसरी भूमिका में ये जहाज आपात स्थिति के दौरान सीमित सुविधाओं के साथ अस्पताल रूपी जहाज के रूप में सेवा करने के अलावा, खोजबीन एवं बचाव और आपदा राहत जैसी भूमिका निभाने में सक्षम होंगे। एक युटिलिटी हेलीकॉप्टर सहित इन जहाजों में वापसी के लिये एक हैंगर भी होगा।

- The contract for building four survey ships was signed between MoD and GRSE on 30 Oct 18 at a total cost of Rs 2435 Crs. The ships are fully designed by the Design team of GRSE to meet the requirements of the Indian Navy and are being built utilising the concepts of ‘Integrated Construction’ and in compliance with applicable provisions and regulations of the Classification Society. It has over 80 per cent indigenous content by cost and this will also ensure that large scale defence production is executed by Indian manufacturing units, thereby generating employment and expertise within the country.

- 30 अक्टूबर 18 को 2435 करोड़ रुपये की कुल लागत से रक्षा मंत्रालय और जीआरएसई के बीच चार सर्वे जहाजों के निर्माण के अनुबंध पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे। जहाजों को भारतीय नौसेना की आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए जीआरएसई की डिजाइन टीम द्वारा पूरी तरह से डिजाइन किया गया है और इन्हें 'एकीकृत निर्माण' की अवधारणाओं का उपयोग करके और क्लासिफिकेशन सोसायटी के लागू प्रावधानों और नियमों के अनुपालन में बनाया जा रहा है। इसमें लागत के हिसाब से 80 प्रतिशत से अधिक स्वदेशी सामग्री है और इससे यह भी सुनिश्चित होगा कि भारतीय विनिर्माण इकाइयों द्वारा बड़े पैमाने पर रक्षा उत्पादन किया जाता है, जिससे देश के भीतर रोजगार और विशेषज्ञता पैदा होती है ।

- As per build strategy adopted by GRSE, first ship is being built at GRSE Ltd and construction of balance three ships is envisaged at M/s L&T Shipbuilding, Kattupalli.

- जीआरएसई द्वारा अपनाई गई निर्माण रणनीति के अनुसार पहला जहाज जीआरएसई लिमिटेड में बनाया जा रहा है और शेष तीन जहाजों के निर्माण की तैयारी मैसर्स एलएंडटी शिपबिल्डिंग, कट्टुपल्ली में की गई है।

- The erstwhile Sandhayak incidentally was also launched at GRSE, Kolkata 44 years ago on 06 Apr 1977.

- संयोग से तत्कालीन संध्याक को भी 44 साल पहले जीआरएसई, कोलकाता में 06 अप्रैल 1977 को लॉन्च किया गया था।
