2. EPFO hikes EPF interest rate to 8.65pc for 2018-19 ahead of polls
Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has announced to raise the interest rate on Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to 8.65 per cent for the financial year 2018-19.
It is the first increase in EPF in three years.

5. MoU between Environment Ministry and University of British Columbia on forestry science
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada for next 10 years in New Delhi. Both the institutions shall explore opportunities for future collaborations in the field of forestry science through their respective organizations namely Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Wildlife Institute of India, Forest Survey of India, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy and Directorate of Forest Education, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India and University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
The MoU will help in exchange of students, researchers and faculty, developing research projects, livelihood opportunities and augment income of the forest based communities and also assist the industries to optimize the utilization of forest based resources with access of technology to different stakeholders by the respective organizations.
पर्यावरण मंत्रालय और यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ब्रिटिश कोलम्बिया के बीच वानिकी विज्ञान पर समझौता ज्ञापन पर हस्ताक्षर
पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय और यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ब्रिटिश कोलंबिया, कनाडा के बीच आज नई दिल्ली में अगले 10 वर्षों के लिए एक समझौता ज्ञापन (एमओयू) पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
दोनों संस्थान अपने संबंधित संगठनों जैसे भारतीय वानिकी अनुसंधान और शिक्षा परिषद, भारतीय वन्यजीव संस्थान, भारतीय वन सर्वेक्षण, इंदिरा गांधी राष्ट्रीय वन अकादमी और वन शिक्षा निदेशालय, देहरादून, उत्तराखंड तथा यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ब्रिटिश कोलंबिया, वैंकूवर, कनाडा के माध्यम से वानिकी विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में भविष्य में सहयोग के अवसरों की तलाश करेंगे।
समझौता ज्ञापन छात्रों, शोधकर्ताओं और संकायों का आदान-प्रदान करने, अनुसंधान परियोजनाओं का विकास करने, आजीविका के अवसरों और वन पर आश्रित समुदायों की आय बढ़ाने में मदद करेगा।
