India is now the world’s No 1 almond importer
Indians are consuming almonds like never before, leaving behind China and Spain to
emerge as the world’s largest consumer of the nut in recent times.
Almond imports into India rose 7 percent to worth $600 million (about ₹3,900 crore) last year against $560 million (₹3,640 crore) in 2016, according to Almond Board of California data.
In the last six months, imports surged 29 per cent to 154 million pounds (one pound equals 0.45 kg). In the same period, China and Spain shipped in 138 million pounds and 119 million pounds, respectively.

भारत हाल हे में बादाम के सबसे बड़े उपभोक्ता के रूप में उभरने के लिए चीन और स्पेन और चीन को पीछे छोड़ दिया है।
कैलिफोर्निया के आलमंड बोर्ड के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, पिछले साल भारत में बादाम का आयात 560 मिलियन डॉलर (3,640 करोड़ रुपये) से 7 फीसदी बढ़कर 600 मिलियन डॉलर (करीब 3,900 करोड़ रुपये) के करीब हो गया।
पिछले छह महीनों में, आयात 29 फीसदी बढ़कर 154 मिलियन पाउंड (एक पाउंड 0.45 किलो के बराबर) हो गया। इसी अवधि में, चीन और स्पेन का आयात क्रमशः 138 मिलियन पाउंड और 119 मिलियन पाउंड रहा है।
कैलिफ़ोर्निया में दुनिया 80 प्रतिशत बादाम का उत्पादन होता है। जिसका 33 प्रतिशत अमेरिका और कनाडा में उपयोग होता है| बाकि 67 फीसदी का निर्यात 90 देशों में किया जाता है।
2016-17 में विश्व का बादाम उत्पादन 2.01 अरब पाउंड पर रहा, जबकि फरवरी तक इस साल 2.25 अरब पाउंड का उत्पादन हो चुका है।
Kadaknath Chicken Gets GI Tag
- Chennai based Geographical Indication Registry and Intellectual Property India has awarded Geographical Indication (GI) Tag to Madhya Pradesh’s Kadaknath chicken. The GI tag will ensure that no one else can use name Kadaknath Chicken while selling any other black chicken.
- Kadaknath chicken breed is unique for its black colour due to its black-feathers. Its black colour stems from the deposition of melanin pigment. It is native tribal districts of Jhabua, Alirajpur and parts of Dhar in Madhya Pradesh.
कडकनाथ मुर्गे को जीआई टैग
- चेन्नई स्थित भौगोलिक संकेतक रजिस्ट्री और बौद्धिक संपदा भारत ने मध्य प्रदेश के कडकनाथ मुर्गे को भौगोलिक संकेत (जीआई) टैग को सम्मानित किया है। जीआई टैग यह सुनिश्चित करेगा कि कोई अन्य कडकनाथ मुर्गे के नाम का उपयोग किसी भी अन्य काले मुर्गे की बिक्री के दौरान नहीं कर सकता।
- कदकनाथ मुर्गे की नस्ल अपने काले रंग के पंखों के कारण अद्वितीय है। इसका काली रंग मेलेनिन रंगद्रव्य के बयान से उत्पन्न होता है। यह मध्य प्रदेश के झाबुआ, अलीराजपुर और धार के कुछ हिस्सों में आदिवासी जिलों में पायी जाती है।
Appointment - Vineet Joshi
The former chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Vineet Joshi, has been appointed as the first director-general of the National Testing Agency (NTA), an independent body dedicated to conducting entrance tests for higher education in India.

Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP)
- R K Singh, Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Government of India, laid the foundation stone of the 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) along with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in Uttarkashi.
- The Proposed Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) is located on the river Tons – a tributary of the Yamuna, in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This run-of-the river project was allocated to SJVN Ltd by the Government of Uttarakhand. SJVN Ltd is a Mini Ratna PSU under administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India.
नैतेवार मोरी हाइड्रो इलेक्ट्रिक परियोजना (एनएमएचईपी)
- ऊर्जा और नई और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा मंत्री आर के सिंह ने उत्तरकाशी में उत्तराखंड के मुख्यमंत्री त्रिवेन्द्र सिंह रावत के साथ 60 मेगावाट नैतेवार मोरी हाइड्रो इलेक्ट्रिक परियोजना (एनएमएचईपी) की नींव रखी।
- प्रस्तावित नैतेवार मोरी हाइड्रो इलेक्ट्रिक प्रोजेक्ट (एनएमएचईपी) उत्तराखंड के उत्तरकाशी जिले में यमुना की एक सहायक नदी टोंस पर स्थित है। यह परियोजना उत्तराखंड सरकार द्वारा एसजेवीएन लिमिटेड को परियोजना के लिए आवंटित की गई थी। एसजेवीएन लिमिटेड भारत की एक मिनी रत्न पीएसयू है जो कि विद्युत मंत्रालय, सरकार के प्रशासनिक नियंत्रण में है।
