India Remains Fastest Growing Domestic Market In 2017: IATA
- India remained the world’s fastest growing domestic aviation market for the third straight year in 2017.
- Globally Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPKs) a measure of passenger volumes rose by 7.6 per cent in 2017.
- The domestic India market posted the fastest full-year growth rate for the third year in a row (17.5 per cent).
- India registered the highest growth rate of 17.4 per cent.
- Since late 2014 lower airfares have helped in boosting passenger growth.
- IATA represents some 280 airlines comprising 83 per cent of global air traffic.

India Successfully Test-fires Nuclear Capable Agni-1
- India successfully test-fired nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-I. This missile has a strike range of over 700 km.
- The indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile was launched as a part of a periodic training activity by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Army to consolidate operational readiness.
- Weighing around 12 tonnes, the 15-meter-long Agni-I can carry payloads up to 1,000 kg and is capable of hitting a target beyond 700 km. The missile is also capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
- The Agni-I was developed by the Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) in collaboration with the Defence Research Development Laboratory (DRDL) and the Research Centre Imarat (RCI). The missile was integrated by the Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderabad.
- The ASL is the premier missile development laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant gets extension till June 30, 2019
- Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has been given an extension till June 30 next year, according to an official order.
- He was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the government think tank on February 17, 2016 for a two-year term.
- The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension of Kant’s tenure till June 30, 2019, the order issued by the personnel ministry said.
- Kant is a 1980 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre.
- Before taking over as the CEO of National Institution for Transforming India (Niti Aayog), he was Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.
