1. Former Goa Chief Minister Shashikala Kakodkar passed away after a prolonged illness. She was 81.
गोवा की पहली महिला मुख्यमंत्री शशिकला काकोदकर का लंबी बीमारी के बाद निधन हो गया। वह 81 वर्ष थी।
2. India posted a massive 190-run victory over New Zealand in the fifth and final One-day International to clinch the five-match series 3-2.
भारत ने पांचवें और अंतिम एकदिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट मैच में न्यूजीलैंड को 190 रन से हराकर श्रृंखला 3-2 से श्रृंखला जीती।
3. The Odisha government has come up with a new scheme to provide legal assistance to the deprived sections of the society at the grassroots level in all its 6,812 gram panchayats across the state. The scheme named after great Odia lawyer, 'Madhubabu Aain Sahayata Sibir’ will offer legal services once a week.
ओडिशा सरकार ने राज्यभर में सभी छह हजार 812 ग्राम पंचायतों में समाज के उपेक्षित वर्गों को कानूनी सहायता प्रदान करने की नई योजना शुरू की है। इस योजना के तहत मधुबाबू अैन सहायता शिविर लगाये जायेंगे।
4. The Defence Ministry has said, the armed forces personnel will continue to get disability pension based on percentage system. However, it will continue till the Anomaly Committee comes out with a report on the issue.This came over the recent decision to introduce a slab-based pension system in place of percentage system.
रक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मी, विसंगति समिति की रिपोर्ट आने तक प्रतिशत प्रणाली के आधार पर दिव्यांगता पेंशन यानी डिसएबिलिटी पेंशन पाते रहेंगे। यह नया फैसला प्रतिशत प्रणाली के स्थान पर स्लेब आधारित पेंशन लागू करने के निर्णय की आलोचना के बाद किया गया है।

6. Controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's father Abdul Karim Naik, a physician and educationist, passed away at his home after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 87.
विवादित इस्लामी प्रचारक जाकिर नाइक के पिता अब्दुल करीब नाइक का दिल का दौरा पड़ने से यहां उनके आवास पर निधन हो गया । 87 साल के अब्दुल पेशे से एक फिजिशयन और शिक्षाविद थे ।
7. Diwali was commemorated for the first time at the United Nations, with the world body's imposing headquarters here lit up especially on the occasion of the Indian festival of lights. The facade of the UN headquarters was lit in bright hues and the words 'Happy Diwali', along with the image of a traditional 'diya', projected onto the building.

8. Three astronauts landed safely in Kazakhstan following a 115-day mission aboard the the International Space Station, including US astronaut Kate Rubins, the first person to sequence DNA in space. Russian mission control confirmed the touchdown of NASA's Rubins, Roscosmos' Anatoly Ivanishin and Takuya Onishi of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
