पिछले चार साल से भी अधिक समय से भारतीय टीम से बाहर चल रहे मध्यम गति के गेंदबाज प्रवीण कुमार समाजवादी पार्टी :सपा: में शामिल हो गये।
प्रवीण पिछले काफी समय से अन्तरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट से बाहर हैं। उन्होंने अपना आखिरी टेस्ट मैच 2011 में जबकि अंतिम अन्तरराष्ट्रीय मैच टी20 के रूप में 30 मार्च 2012 को दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ जोहानिसबर्ग में खेला था।
