1. India's Leander Paes will become the only tennis player in the world and the first Indian to make a seventh appearance at the Olympics. Paes won the bronze medal for India in singles tennis at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

4. Veteran journalist Inder Malhotra passed away aged 86 at a Delhi hospital, after suffering a cardiac arrest. Malhotra was the resident editor of The Times of India and The Statesman. He authored several books, including a biography of Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
