1. ACERBIC (ADJECTIVE): harsh or corrosive in tone

Synonyms: caustic, acrid 

Antonyms: mild, nice

Example Sentence:

John had taken no part in the increasingly acerbic argument between the two applicants.


2. LYNCHED (VERB): kill without legal sanction

Synonyms: execute, murder Antonyms: create, bear

Example Sentence:

The police were about to lynch him when reinforcements from the army burst into the room and rescued him.


3. ENDORSEMENT (NOUN): Formal and explicit approval

Synonyms: ratification, approbation Antonyms: veto, censure

Example Sentence: 

The notes must also be made payable to a definite person and require endorsement,

safeguards which were previously lacking.


4. EARMARKS (NOUN & VERB): A distinctive characteristic or attribute, assign a 

resource to a particular person or cause.

Synonyms: hallmark, trait Antonyms: misapply, misuse

Example Sentence:

5. PROFITEERING (VERB): Make an unreasonable profit, as on the sale of difficult
