ANSWER:

1. Sol. (C) 

Let r = running time of the train
s = stoppage time of the train
D = total distance travelled by train
According to the question,
 and 

s: r = 1: 2
As, D = 300 km

r = 5 hours and s = 2.5 hours

2. Sol. (C) 

By using method of alligation, 

Required ratio = 7: 9 

3. Sol. (C) 

Let total number of articles be 100 and cost of each article be Rs.1. 
Case-I: 
Total selling price of 100 articles = 50 × 1.2 + 50 × 1.4 = 60 + 70 = 130
Case-II: 
Total selling price of 100 articles = 100 × 1.25 = 125
According to the question, 
130 – 125 = 100
5 = 100
1 = 20

4. Sol. (D) 

Let x days are taken when they work together.
We know Time taken by A to complete the work = (x + 4) days
And Time taken by B to complete the work = (x + 16) days
According to the question,

On solving above equation, 
x = 8 

5. Sol. (A) 

C.I. = – 10240 
= – 10240 
= 11704.5 – 10240 = 1464.5

6. Sol. (B)

Let the term be nth. 
(ar)n – 1 = 384
a = 6, and r = – 2
Solving for n:
6 (– 2)n – 1 = 384
(– 2)n – 1 = 64
n – 1 = 6
n = 7

log + log = log (m + n)
log (m + n) = log = log 1
m + n = 1

Total monthly income = 100

22.05% = 7717.50
100% = 35000
Annual income = 420000
