1- Journalist Ravish Kumar is one among 2019 Ramon Magsaysay award winners. The other winners of the award, dubbed ‘Asia’s premier prize and highest honour’, include Myanmar’s Ko Swe Win, also a journalist; Thailand’s Angkhana Neelapajit, human rights activist; Philippines’ Raymundo Pujante Cayabyab, musician; and South Korea’s Kim Jong-Ki, an activist working with violence and mental health issues in youth.

2- Pingali Venkaiah, a freedom fighter and the designer of the flag on which the Indian national flag was based was born on 2nd August 1876, near Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. His 143rd birth anniversary has been celebrated on 02nd August 2019.

3- The Netherlands banned face-covering clothing, such as a burqa or niqab, in public buildings and on transport as a law on the garment came into force.

4-Saudi Arabia will allow women to obtain passports and travel abroad without approval from a male "guardian". A passport will be granted to any Saudi national who submits an application, said a government ruling published in the official gazette Umm Al Qura. The regulation will be applicable to women over the age of 21. Women's rights activists have campaigned for decades against the guardianship system.
सऊदी अरब ने महिलाओं को पासपोर्ट प्राप्त करने और एक "पुरुष -अभिभावक" से अनुमोदन के बिना विदेश यात्रा करने की अनुमति दे दी है। सरकारी गजट उम्म अल क़ुरा में प्रकाशित एक सरकारी फैसले में कहा गया है कि किसी भी सऊदी नागरिक को पासपोर्ट दिया जाएगा, जो एक आवेदन प्रस्तुत करता है। यह विनियमन 21 वर्ष से अधिक आयु की महिलाओं के लिए लागू होगा। महिला अधिकार कार्यकर्ताओं द्वारा संरक्षकता प्रणाली के खिलाफ दशकों तक अभियान चलने के बाद इस कानून को स्वीकृति मिली।

6- The Department of Posts will convert India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) into a small finance bank (SFB) to provide small loans to individuals, and small and medium enterprises. It aims to open one crore IPPB accounts in 100 days.
डाक विभाग व्यक्तियों, और छोटे तथा मध्यम उद्यमों को लघु ऋण प्रदान करने के लिए इंडिया पोस्ट पेमेंट्स बैंक (IPPB) को एक छोटे वित्त बैंक (SFB) में परिवर्तित करेगा। इसका लक्ष्य 100 दिनों में एक करोड़ आईपीपीबी खाते खोलने का है।
7- Election Commission announces by-polls to two Rajya Sabha seats including the one vacated by Samajwadi Party’s Neeraj Shekhar (UP) who joined the BJP. The other seat is from Rajasthan where sitting BJP member Madanlal Saini passed away.
