Commonwealth games : P Gururaja won India’s first medal
P Gururaja won India’s first medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018 after he struck silver medal in Gold Coast in the men’s 56kg final with a total lift of 249kg. He lifted 111kg in snatch and then 138kg in clean and jerk to win the silver medal for India. Gururaja failed to lift the weight of 138kg in his first two attempts but managed to lift it in his final attempt to secure the medal.
Gururaja had to finish second as the gold medal went to Izahar Ahmad of Malaysia who lifted a total weight of 261kg. His total lift was a Games record. In his snatch attempt, Ahmad lifted 117kg, which was also a Games record. In clean and jerk, he lifted 144kg.
Hailing from Karnataka, 25-year-old Gururaja is employed with the Indian Air Force.

राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों में गुरुराजा ने अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ व्यक्तिगत प्रदर्शन दोहराते हुए 249 किलो (111 और 138) वजन उठाया। गुरुराजा स्नैच के बाद तीसरे स्थान पर थे जिन्होंने 2 प्रयासों में 111 किलो वजन उठाया। क्लीन और जर्क में पहले 2 प्रयास में वे नाकाम रहे लेकिन आखिरी प्रयास में 138 किलो वजन उठाकर रजत सुनिश्चित किया।
मलेशिया के इज़हार अहमद ने स्वर्ण पदक जीता, उन्होंने कुल 261 किग्रा का वजन उठाया था। उनका कुल लिफ्ट एक खेल रिकार्ड था। अपने स्नेच अटेम्प्ट में, अहमद ने 117 किग्रा को उठाया, जो खेलों का रिकॉर्ड भी है।

Obituary - Kollam Ajith
Malayalam actor Kollam Ajith passed away recently. He was 56.
Kollam Ajith made his silver screen debut with Padmarajan’s 1983 film Parannu Parannu Parannu. While the actor was mostly seen in villainous and supporting roles, he played the lead role in 1989 film Agnipravesham. Some of his best-known films are Yuvajanotsavam, Nadodikkattu, No.20 Madras Mail, Nirnayam, Aaraam Thampuran, Olympiyan Anthony Adam and Valliettan among others. Besides his stint in the Malayalam film industry, the actor also starred in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films.

BAFTA nomination for Anupam Kher
Veteran actor Anupam Kher has secured a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category at the British Academy Television Awards 2018 for his role in the drama The Boy with the Topknot. The show, which aired on BBC Two last year, is based on a critically acclaimed memoir of the same name by U.K. journalist Sathnam Sanghera.
Also starring Sacha Dhawan and Deepti Naval, it follows a boy growing up in Wolverhampton in a traditional Punjabi family. Kher and Naval plays the parents of the protagonist.

इसके अलावा साचा धवन और दीप्ति नवल ने भी इस नाटक में महतवपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी| यह एक पारंपरिक पंजाबी परिवार में वूल्वरहैम्प्टन में एक लड़के की कहानी है। खेर और नवल ने नायक के माता-पिता की भूमिका निभाई थी।
