6. A consortium of 12 British and Indian universities has received a 7-million-pound grant from the UK government to build five self-sufficient solar-powered buildings in remote Indian villages. The grant is part of a new solar project 'SUNRISE'.

भारत ने जलवायु परिवर्तन पर अपने रुख को फिर से दोहराते हुए क्योटो प्रोटोकॉल की दूसरी प्रतिबद्धता अवधि की पुष्टि की। इसी के साथ भारत क्योटो प्रोटोकॉल की दूसरी प्रतिबद्धता अवधि से संबंधित संशोधन को स्वीकार करने वाला 80वां देश बन गया है। क्योटो प्रोटोकॉल अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर उत्सर्जन में कमी लाने की संधि है।
