1. DISCREET (ADJECTIVE):  Cautious, sensible

Synonyms: attentive, careful 
        
Antonyms: careless, heedless

Example Sentence:

He is very discreet with his class assignments.

2. FRACAS (NOUN): Disturbance, fight

Synonyms: bickering, melee       

Antonyms: calm, harmony

Example Sentence:

To avoid a fracas on the plane, the flight attendant gave the angry customer free drink coupons.


3. PSYCHOSIS (NOUN): Mental illness; foolishness

Synonyms: craziness, madness      

Antonyms: sanity, balance

Example Sentence:

Doctor said that the patient was suffering from psychosis.

4. RESUSCITATION (NOUN): Revival

Synonyms: rejuvenation, renewal           

Antonyms: destruction, exhaustion

Example Sentence:

Watering a plant can bring it back in a state of resuscitation.

5. DISCOUNTENANCE (VERB):  Reject, oppose

Synonyms: condemn, disapprove    

Antonyms: endorse, approve

Example Sentence:

The proposal to demolish the building was finally discountenanced.

6. IMPERATIVE (ADJECTIVE): Necessary

Synonyms:  critical, essential   
      
Antonyms: trivial, unimportant

Example Sentence:

It’s imperative that every member of the team is able to get along with all his teammates.

7. ARRESTING (ADJECTIVE):  Noticeable

Synonyms: remarkable, striking    

Antonyms:  unimpressive, ordinary 

Example Sentence:

Teachers saw an arresting improvement in the student’s performance. 

8. SURMISE (VERB): Assume

Synonyms: guess, hunch      
 Antonyms:  certain, fact

Example Sentence:

Without knowing the facts, the judge chose to surmise the defendant was guilty.

9. TRAVAIL (NOUN):  Struggle

Synonyms: hard work, labour     

Antonyms:  comfort, happiness

Example Sentence:

He has gone through many travails and sufferings in life.

10. UNKEMPT (ADJECTIVE):  Untidy

Synonyms: dishevelled, shaggy        

 Antonyms:  clean, upright

Example Sentence:


The unkempt garden was filled with weeds.
