1. According to Ernst and Young report, India’s renewable energy sector has been ranked third in the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI) with China at second and the US on top.

2. Wholesale price-based inflation turned positive after 17 months, posting an annual gain of 0.34% in April. The April Wholesale Price Index-based inflation was at (-) 0.85% in March.
थोकमूल्य सूचकांक आधारित मुद्रास्फीति 17 महीने बाद शून्य से उपर निकलकर अप्रैल में 0.34 फीसदी हो गई। पिछले महीने मार्च में थोकमूल्य सूचकांक आधारित मुद्रास्फीति शून्य से 0.85 प्रतिशत थी।
3. Former Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi has been awarded with an honorary fellowship by a UK student body to "celebrate and acknowledge his contributions in shaping the present and future of India". Deputy High Commissioner of India Dr Virender Paul bestowed the Honorary Fellowship on Quraishi at an event organised by the '100-Foot Journey Club' and the 'National Indian Students and Alumni Union' (NISAU), UK.

4. An Indian-origin pioneering Tamil scholar and author, Cundasamy Kuppusami who was instrumental in persuading the South African government to introduce Tamil as a language at secondary schools, died. He was 103.
दक्षिण अफ्रीका की सरकार को माध्यमिक स्कूलों में भाषा के तौर पर तमिल पढ़ाने के लिए राजी करने में अहम भूमिका निभाने वाले भारतीय मूल के तमिल विद्वान एवं लेखक कंडासामी कुप्पुसामी का निधन हो गया। वह 103 वर्ष के थे।
5. India successfully test fired an indigenously developed Advanced Air Defence interceptor missile, Ashwin. It was launched from the complex of Abdul Kalam Island (formerly known as Wheeler Island) off Odisha coast.

Four Indian peacekeepers and a civilian, who laid down their lives while serving in the U.N. peacekeeping operations, will be honoured along with other 124 personnel with a prestigious U.N. medal awarded posthumously for their courage and sacrifice. These people will be honoured with the Dag Hammarskjold Medal on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

7. United Nation's International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will provide grants worth USD 150 million (about Rs 1,001 crore) to India in the next three years to aid the farm sector.
