2 Kavita Chand from Almora
district of Uttarakhand has successfully scaled Mount Vinson, the highest peak
in Antarctica. She reached the summit after climbing the 4,892-meter-high
mountain. By conquering Mount Vinson, Kavita has taken a significant step
towards completing the Seven Summits challenge, which involves climbing the
highest peaks on all seven continents.
She had previously climbed Mount Elbrus in Europe.

के अल्मोड़ा ज़िले की कविता चंद ने अंटार्कटिका की सबसे ऊंची चोटी माउंट विंसन पर
सफलतापूर्वक चढ़ाई पूरी कर ली है। वह 4,892

3 A contingent of the
Indian Army has departed for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in
the second edition of the India-UAE joint military exercise, Desert Cyclone-II,
which is scheduled to be held from December 18 to 30, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the Indian Army and the
UAE Land Forces through joint training in urban environments and to promote
defense cooperation. The Desert Cyclone-II exercise underscores the deepening
strategic partnership and military diplomacy between India and the United Arab
Emirates.

4 The Indian
Coast Guard (ICG) offshore patrol vessel Sarthak has arrived at the Chabahar
port in Iran. This strategically important deep-water port provides India with
a direct and secure sea route connecting it to Iran, Afghanistan, and Central
Asia. The vessel will be in Iran for a four-day official visit from December 16
to 19, 2025. Located near Pakistan's
Gwadar port, it provides India with direct access to Central Asia, bypassing
Pakistan. It is also a part of the International North-South Transport Corridor
(INSTC).

5. The Rajya
Sabha passed the ‘Insurance for All, Protection for All (Insurance Laws
Amendment) Bill, 2025’ by voice vote. The bill includes several key reforms,
including increasing the limit for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the
insurance sector from 74% to 100%. Its objective is to achieve the goal of
‘insurance for all by 2047’. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that
the number of insurance companies has increased from 53 to 74, and insurance
penetration has risen from 3.3% to approximately 3.8%. The Goods and Services
Tax (GST) on health insurance premiums has been reduced from 18% to zero.

ने ‘सबका बीमा सबकी रक्षा (बीमा कानूनों
में संशोधन) विधेयक, 2025’ को ध्वनि मत से
पारित कर दिया। इस विधेयक में बीमा क्षेत्र में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश (एफडीआई)
की सीमा 74% से बढ़ाकर 100% करने सहित कई अहम सुधारों का प्रावधान है। इसका
उद्देश्य ‘2047 तक सभी के लिए बीमा’ के लक्ष्य को हासिल करना है। सीतारमण ने कहा
कि बीमा कंपनियों की संख्या 53 से बढ़कर 74 हो गई है। बीमा पैठ 3.3% से बढ़कर लगभग
3.8% हो गई है। स्वास्थ्य बीमा प्रीमियम पर जीएसटी को 18% से घटाकर शून्य किया
गया।
6. Fish production in India has increased to 197.75 lakh tonnes in
2024-25, registering a 38 percent growth since the launch of the Pradhan Mantri
Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in 2020.
This is up from 141.60 lakh tonnes in 2019-20. The top five states in
inland fish production are Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,
and Odisha. This information was provided by the government to the Lok Sabha
(lower house of the Indian Parliament). The fisheries sector's contribution to
the Gross Value Added (GVA) of the agriculture sector has increased from 7
percent in 2018-19 to 7.55 percent in 2023-24.

8. Rajasthan's
Siliserh Lake has been granted Ramsar site status, an international
recognition. It has been declared India's 96th Ramsar site, which will boost
its conservation and tourism. The lake is located in the Aravalli hills near
Alwar and is renowned for its biodiversity. It was constructed in 1845 by
Maharaja Vinay Singh to supply water to the city of Alwar. Tamil Nadu has the
highest number of Ramsar sites in India, with 20 sites, followed by Uttar
Pradesh with 10.

declared Italian cuisine an "Intangible Cultural Heritage of
Humanity" by including it on its "Representative List of the

10 The National Blood
Transfusion Bill, 2025 was introduced with the objective of creating a
dedicated legal and institutional framework for blood transfusion services in
India. The bill proposes the establishment of the National Blood Transfusion
Authority (NBTA) as a statutory body. This bill mandates the registration of
all blood centers across the country to ensure standardization and safety.
