1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the M.S. Swaminathan
Centenary International Conference. The event is being held in New Delhi. It is
organised by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF). It is supported
by the Ministry of Agriculture, ICAR and NAAS. Theme: Evergreen Revolution -
The Path to Organic Happiness. It marks the birth centenary of Prof. M.S.
Swaminathan.

2 India
has sent a 17-member contingent to compete in the World Games 2025 to be held
in Chengdu, China from August 6 to 17. This is the 12th edition of the World
Games, a quadrennial event for non-Olympic sports. Held since 1981, the
multi-sport event usually takes place a year after the Olympics. India will
compete in 23 medal events across five sports - archery, billiards,
racquetball, roller skating and wushu.
भारत ने 6 से 17 अगस्त तक चीन के चेंगदू में होने वाले
वर्ल्ड गेम्स 2025 के लिए 17 सदस्यीय दल प्रतिस्पर्धा के लिए भेजा है। यह वर्ल्ड

3. According to an order, five judges will take oath in the Allahabad
High Court, taking the total number of judges to 83. The newly appointed judges
include Pramod Kumar Shrivastava-II, Santosh Rai, Zafeer Ahmed, Abdul Shahid
and Tej Pratap Tiwari. They will be sworn in in the Chief Justice's court room.
The sanctioned strength of judges is 160

4. Researchers
from IIT Delhi and IIT Gandhinagar have developed the District Flood Severity
Index (DFSI). The DFSI is a data-based tool designed to assess and classify the
severity of floods at the district level, India's key disaster management unit.
Objective: To identify flood-prone districts and guide resource allocation for
flood mitigation and emergency response.

5. A recent study by
Eunomia and Zero Carbon Analytics shows that seven countries produce two-thirds
of the most common plastics, with China far ahead. Last year, China was
responsible for 34 percent of the production of these four major polymers, well
ahead of the United States (13 percent) and Saudi Arabia (five percent). It is
followed by South Korea, where plastic production is five percent, India four
percent, Japan three percent and Germany two percent.

6. Smt. S. Radha Chauhan assumed charge as
Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission in New Delhi. She is a retired
IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre (1988 batch). She has served in various
capacities in the State and Central Government. She is also a former Secretary,
Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The Government of India
constituted the Capacity Building Commission on 1 April 2021. The Commission is
entrusted with the mandate to standardize and harmonize the Indian Civil
Services landscape.

7. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed that Moldova
has become the 107th member of the International Solar Alliance. The
International Solar Alliance is a global initiative launched in 2015 by India
and France at the COP21 in Paris. It has 124 member and signatory countries.
The mission of ISA is to promote investment in solar energy, as well as reduce
the cost of technology and financing. It promotes the use of solar energy in
agriculture, healthcare, transport and power generation sectors.

8. The Reserve Bank on Thursday announced that it has granted 'in-principle' approval to AU Small Finance Bank Limited (AUSFB) for conversion from a small finance bank (SFB) to a universal bank. After receiving the SFB licence in 2015, AU Financiers began its journey as a small finance bank in April 2017. As of June 30, 2025, the bank has shareholder funds of Rs 17,800 crore, deposit base of Rs 1,27,696 crore, total loan portfolio of Rs 1,17,624 crore and balance sheet size of Rs 1.60 lakh crore.

9. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed banks to settle the
deposit accounts, safe deposit lockers and safe custody articles of a deceased
customer within 15 days of the claim. A hefty penalty has also been proposed
for failing to do so. Banks are to pay the customer's family 4% interest per
annum plus the bank rate for the period of delay in settlement of deposits and
Rs 5,000 per day for delay in settlement of lockers. Currently, the bank rate
is 5.75%.

10. President Draupadi Murmu presides over the 11th National
Handloom Day in New Delhi. The event was organised by the Ministry of Textiles.
Sant Kabir Handloom Awards and National Handloom Awards were presented. The
Sant Kabir Awards carry a cash prize of Rs 3.5 lakh. The National Handloom Awards
carry a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. The awards honour outstanding weavers for
their outstanding contribution in the sector.
