1.) At an examination in which maximum marks are 500. A got 10% less than B, B got 25% more than C and C got 20% less than D. If A got 360 marks what percentage of marks was obtained by D?

एक परीक्षा जिसमें अधिकतम अंक 500 है, A, B से 10% कम अंक प्राप्त करता है, B, C से 25% अधिक अंक प्राप्त करता है व C, D से 20% कम अंक प्राप्त करता है। यदि A को 360 अंक मिले हो तो D को कितने प्रतिशत अंक मिले?


1.) 50               2.) 60               3.) 70               4.) 75               5.) 80

Sol :

Let marks obtained by D = x
 C's marks = 0.80x
 B's marks = 1.25 (0.80x)
 A's marks = (0.90) (1.25) (0.80x)
 = 0.9x
 But 0.9x = 360 ⇒ x = 400

2.) A person can row a boat d km. upstream and the same distance downstream in 5 hours 15 minutes. Also, he can row the boat 2d km. upstream in 7 hours. How long will it take to row the same distance 2d km. downstream?

 एक व्यक्ति एक नाव को d किमी. धारा के प्रतिकूल व इतनी ही दूरी को धारा के अनुप्रवाह में 5 घंटे 15 मिनट में खेता है। वह 2d किमी. को धारा के प्रतिकूल 7 घंटे में खेता है तो 2d किमी. को धारा के अनुप्रवाह में खेने में उसे कितना समय लगेगा?

Sol :

Let the speed of boat and stream be x and y kmph respectively.
 According to question

 Hence, the person will take hours to row 2d km. distance downstream in 3.5hrs .

3.) The compound interest on an amount of Rs. 15000 after 2 years is Rs. 2496. What is the rate of interest p.c.p.a.?

4.)  A number is 2 more than thrice the second number and 4 times the smaller number is 5 more than the greater number. What is the greater number?

एक संख्या दूसरी संख्या के तीन गुने से 2 अधिक है और छोटी संख्या का 4 गुना बड़ी संख्या से 5 अधिक है।  बड़ी संख्या क्या है?


1.) 21               2.) 23               3.) 29               4.) 31               5.) 37

Sol :

Let the greater and smaller number be x and y respectively.
4y = x + 5 ------ (I)
x = 3y+2 ------- (II)
From equation (I) and (II)
y = 7
x = 23

5.) In how many different ways can the letters of the word 'ABYSMAL' be arranged?


शब्द 'ABYSMAL' के अक्षरों को कितने अलग-अलग तरीकों से व्यवस्थित किया जा सकता है?


1.) 35               2.) 28               3.) 21               4.) 14               5.) 7

Sol :

6.) The average of 8 numbers is 38.4. Out of these numbers, the average of 7 number is 39.2. The 8th number

8 संख्याओं का औसत 38.4 है। इन संख्याओं में से 7 संख्याओं का औसत 39.2 है। 8 वीं संख्या है-

Sol :

Sum of 8 numbers = 38.4 × 8 = 307.2
Sum of 7 numbers = 39.2 × 7 = 274.4
Therefore 8th number = 307.2 – 274.4 = 32.8

7.) The twice of sum of the ages of a father and his son is 8 times the age of the son. If the average age of the father and the son is 28 years, what is father's age? 

एक पिता और उसके पुत्र की आयु का दुगुना पुत्र की आयु का 8 गुना है। यदि पिता और पुत्र की औसत आयु 28 वर्ष है, तो पिता की आयु क्या है? 


1.) 42               2.) 45               3.) 50               4.) 55               5.) 60

Sol :

Let father's age be x year and son's age be the y year.
According to question,
2(x+y) = 8y _______(I)
and  = 28
or, x+y = 56 years__________(II)
From equation (I) and (II)
8 y = 112
y = 14 years, hence x = 42 years

8.) The diagonal of a rectangle is 17 cm long and its perimeter is 46 cm. Find the area of the rectangle.

एक आयत का विकर्ण 17 सेमी लंबा है और उसका परिमाप 46 सेमी है। आयत का क्षेत्रफल ज्ञात कीजिए।


1.) 100             2.)110              3.) 115             4.) 120             5.) 125

Sol :


 2(l+b) = 46
(l + b)2 = (23)2
(l2  + b2 ) +2lb = 529
172 + 2lb = 529 =>  lb = 120
Area = l × b = 120 cm2

9.) A mixture of 40 litres of milk and water contains 30% water. How much milk should be added to this mixture so that the new mixture contains 80% milk?

40 लीटर दूध और पानी के एक मिश्रण में 30% पानी है। इस मिश्रण में कितना दूध मिलाया जाना चाहिए जिससे कि नए मिश्रण में 80% दूध हो जाए?


1.) 10               2.) 15               3.) 20               4.) 25               5.) 35

Sol :Water in 40 litres of mixture =Quantitative Aptitude Questions For IBPS Clerk Mains : 05 - 01 - 18  = 12 litres
So, milk= 40 – 12=28 liters
 Let x liters of milk be added to it –
 According to question

10.) After a discount of 20%, Asmita bought an item for Rs.9600.Asmita sold it to other person and earned a profit of 18% on the original price. At what price other person bought the item?

Sol :

80% of M.P. = 9600
M.P. = Rs. 12000
