1. Former Punjab top cop K.P.S. Gill, who is credited with having played a big role in eliminating terrorism from Punjab, died. He was 82.
पंजाब के पूर्व डीजीपी केपीएस गिल का निधन हो गया है। पंजाब में आतंकवाद को खत्म करने में उनकी अहम भूमिका रही थी। वह 82 साल के थे।
2. United States senate has confirmed Amul Thapar as a judge to the Cincinnati-based Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. With this appointment he has become only the second Indian-American judge of an appeals court.
संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के सीनेट ने अपील के सिनसिनाटी आधारित छठे सर्किट कोर्ट के न्यायाधीश के रूप में अमुल थापर की नियुक्ति की पुष्टि की है। इस नियुक्ति के साथ वह अपील अदालत के दूसरे भारतीय-अमेरिकी न्यायाधीश बन गए हैं।
3. Google’s vice-president for South East Asia and India, Rajan Anandan has been appointed as the new chairman of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).
Rajan will succeed FreeCharge’s co-founder and chief executive officer Kunal Shah.

7. The government announced that the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) will now process the applications for grant of licence for manufacture of defence items. Earlier, the Home Ministry was carrying out this exercise.
